I did not think about the feed ramps until recently. It's something I am working on now.
The chamber reamers that are on order are what the owner of Pacific Gauge calls match reamers. The blank has false centers in it for turning so they are longer then when they will be finished.

you might be able to use the extra length to your advantage and cut a feed ramp into the chamber face

I understand what your saying and will look into it. The barrel has a ramp already. Extending the chamber end would take some work but would solve the problem on how to attach the guide insert.

Obstreperous, I'm overjoyed seeing your progress on these. Beautiful work.

As far as producing a feed ramp goes, I think I personally would prefer a separate machined weld-on piece that can be fit according to the actual height of magwell/trunnion/receiver dimensions. Maybe not necessary, but I do like adjustablility in stuff.

After thinking about it the barrel already has a small feed ramp and the feed ramp between the mag and barrel is below the barrel so an insert is needed.

Just finished the extractor for my build based on a repaired deact bolt. I don't have a kit so the rest of the build is taking a while to finish.

Is the rear sight journal standard AK74 size?

I have everything just about finished. The last couple of weeks I got the extractor and firing pin retaining pin holes machined. Also machined the bottom.
I did the top and back on the setup piece and plan on doing those operations this weekend. The amount of work in these parts is more than even I would have thought and I have been doing this going on 41 years. After heat treat I have to press in the tube and trim the tube flush with the angle on the back.

When we first started talking about these I figured they would be good (based on your previous work) but god damn I had no idea they would turn out this well. FANTASTIC job man.

Im glad i waited to for someone to move forward on a bolt these kit deserve only the best! This is artwork people! But if he is also addressing the missing bolts and extractors that only leaves the model trunnions missing feed ramp to be addressed and i dont think that will be bad of a issue to work around. My kit may see new life in the next year or two!

Back from heat treat. I was worried that they might crack because of all the corners, slots and holes. I tried to make sure all the corners and steps had some kind of radius to minimum the chance of cracking. With chromoly's there is always a chance of cracking when you heat treat it. The parts are 42Rc which is right where it's supposed to be. I blasted them all and put one together to trim the back of the tube. I just need to rosette weld the front plug in the tube and the tube to the carrier. I am thinking of getting the big Jim Parkerizing and bluing tanks and parkerizing them. I could use the setup for my other AK and 1911 builds.
