Default PSA AKs: Why so many Blems?

As asked above why are there so many PSA AK Blems produced? When I look on the site most of the time only Blems are available?

On a side Note of Opinion. Would picking one of the $500 Magpul Blem Side Folders be worth it as a 2nd AK option?

Blems are instant sale items. That way they can offer them cheaper without appearing to raise the price later.

With an AK you can't really disassemble a minor blem that was made in manufacturing. With an AR a blem upper could be mated with a blem lower resulting in half as many blemished rifles for sale.

Also, the blems that I got from PSA would be considered collector grade by other manufacturers.

I am starting to think the same thing, because why pay $700 for an AK when an Arsenal (when available) is only $150 more.

"Hey Joe, these (insert name of part or rifle here) aren't selling so well at the normal sale price point. We need some cash flow, throw them in with the little pile that has a scratch on the upper, call them all BLEMs, and knock another $20 off..."

In my experience, rarely do any firearms that say "blem" actually have a blem on them. When they do, it is something minor that does not affect function.

Some of my PSA lowers are off color. I "paint" them with Motorkote. No performance issues.

On Monday I ordered the free shipping $599 Gen5 Glock 26 with the 3 stripped "top shelf" lowers.

I've ordered many BLEMs from PSA, only one I ever found a blemish on was one upper had a tiny shiny spot where the anodizing didn't take.

I just did the Gen5 Glock 26 deal with the 3 stripped "top shelf" PSA lowers. It arrived at the FFL late today.
