Default Just picked up a Nagant

I found a Nagant revolver for sale at a local pawn shop. They wanted $200, but took $160. It is dated 1927, and came with holster cleaning rod and a box of ammo.
I have been wanting one but missed out when they were $99.

I had a couple of the $99 ones back in the day.
They are a lot of fun.
I too saw the video of someone suppressing it, works great!

Sweet! You got a good deal! I have owned several Nagants, most were arsenal rebuilds, I kept one after the collection sell off, a matching non rebuild, 1924 Nagant. I ordered some ammo last week as I had not shot it in awhile and was thinking that it would be a nice range day to take a group off my old pistols out shooting.

It has a little wear on it but it looks good for the most part. It’s marked C.C.C.P., not quite sure what that means? It’s definitely a post war refurb and a CAI import. I have to get some more ammo for it. Now if I can find a nice cheap SVT, my Russian WW2 collection will be done.

Looks nice, you got a good deal on that. It has the nicer grips too it looks like. Mine came with a light colored soft wood for grips.

As far as CCCP, its on these red hockey jerseys:

It's Russian for USSR

One of the ones that I had also had those dark colored plastic stocks, I think that these were from an early group of imports in the late 80’s very early 90’s, I also had them with the soft light colored wood stocks. Those came in a little later, mid to late 90’s before they stopped.

So I open the box of ammo and there is only 13 rounds and the rest is fired brass.

+1. Surplus runs 200-400 fps faster than the commercial brands.

Cccp are worth slightly more than later years as they aren't as common. Late 30s-early 40s Tulas seem to be what most are

The link in my above post is the cheapest I have ever seen for the ammo. Don't expect to just stumble across it somewhere, not very likely, or if you do, I can almost guarantee it will be way more expensive.

ETA - it seems as if a few years ago a large shipment came in, this would be from that. I wouldn't anticipate another shipment because the pistols are not currently available on the primary market.

Also, unfortunately for me, that is not my Gun Broker auction

You still got a heck of a deal, on that revolver.

SG ammo and a number of others have the PRVI non corrosive/reloadable for about $20/50rds. It is pretty easy to reload and Lee has inexpensive dies for it. .32 ACP bullets will word, even cast lead ones.

http://www.sgammo.com/product/prvi-p...partizan-ppr71

I've got some surplus, mostly for its historical value, but I shoot the newer stuff, and reload it.

Back in the 90’s I bought a lot of the Russian surplus Nagant ammo, that was a problem with the Nagant’s was availability of ammo. I also bought a cylinder chambered in .32 ACP. I need to dig some of this stuff out of the safe and get it to the range.

I have some commercial Nagant ammo coming, it has been on back order for a month. All the Russian ammo that I had is gone, I think, that I have one box of Fiocchi Nagant ammo somewhere.

I picked one up from AIM a few years back. It's dated 1917. Kinda cool that it was made during the Russian revolution. The stories that thing might be able to tell

Imperial Nagants bring a premium especially if they are matching and original and not molested.

List it on gun broker

The pistol that shot Tsar Nicholas, buy it now $99,999.

I can’t belive I was able to get it so cheap. I have been wanting one but didn’t want to pay the $200-$300 that people are asking for them. Once I saw it at $200 I knew they would go down on the price. This pawn shop I went to always has a horrible selection of guns, but they are always cheap and once is a while have a good gun or two. This is the same place I bought an ABNI entreprise FAL for $700.

You need to keep going to that pawn shop! The LGS that I was using for transfers had a Nagant, nothing special, priced at $425. I looked at it, told them it was a little pricy and kept doing transfers. Now I need to find another FFL to do transfers as they closed up shop.

You are in the Houston area, right? I got to the Ace hardware in Crosby for transfers. They charge $20 and are pretty laid back.

Yes and thanks! $20 is a good deal for a transfer. Crosby is a bit to the North East of me but I will keep them in mind. I used this couple that started a LGS a couple of years ago, they were really nice and easy to work with but they just couldn’t make the business work out and had to go back and get real jobs. I have used a couple of other FFL’s for transfers but I will need to look around for a good one again.

Anyone have a lead on where I could get a Nagant revolver? I bought one years ago for 99 bucks and foolishly sold it to a friend not long after. I’d love to pick one up again to add to my Cold War Pistol collection. I know 99 bucks is out of the question, but I’d pay 2-300 for a good example with crisp rifling.

Also, has anyone ever seen an imperial marked example?

Crosby is "out there" for the majority of Houstonians.

Since we're recommending, Martini Hardware is inside the east loop and charges the same ( and are pretty laid back, also )

Thanks Nails! Martini is a little closer but too far in town. I am on the more Southern edges of town.

I thought that I would add some pictures of my 1924 Nagant

I always wanted a Finnish captured example but never could bring myself to pay the asking prices.

Just the thought of a Finnish soldier taking one off a dead, frozen Russian officer... Too cool
