I have not yet, but it is on the itinerary at some point.

I took one as I have had Russian ammo do this to me that would not fire the second time......

Makes sense, I disposed of it but looking at it, that does look weird.

One bad from 700+ rounds is ok I guess. Better than Golden Jacket 22s from Remington

Default 6th & 7th Range Report

215 more rounds through the rifle for a total of 960rds through the rifle.
80rds and 135rds of GT and Wolf during the range sessions.
No malfunctions.
I was trying to test for accuracy the best I could with the red dot and with iron sights. The best I got was 6MOA at 50yds with the iron sights and maybe 7MOA with the red dot. I was frustrated with this so I didn't take any pictures.
I'm somewhat of an accuracy snob so I wasn't happy with this.
For reference purposes I also shot my AR using a KAC rear sight and A2 front sight during the 6th range session, and I was hitting 2MOA at 200yds. That was with a gritty milspec trigger too.
I think it's safe to say that my RAK47 needs magnified optics for me to shoot better than what I have been, if it's even capable of shooting better. I'm concluding that my specimen is not a very accurate rifle.

Next will be a post cleaning inspection which I will take detailed photos, as well as another head-space check.

Interesting. Don't forget to check the headspace also. Looking forward to photos.

1,000rd inspection posted in OP.

I know I'm only at 960rds but I'm rounding for the sake of the 1,000rd title.

Rear lip is fine.
However because it's soft thin metal, it had loosened a bit since it was new. So I used my vice and pliers to make it fit snug again. Not a worry for me.

Did that wood come with the rifle? Good looking wood.

Took the Riley and WASR to the range today. Both performed great. No issues with either, but only 100 rounds each. Accuracy about the same. So far the Riley doing ok, but, 100 rounds is nothing. Time and rounds will tell.

Default No More Review

In rethinking the purpose of this project, I'm going to cease the review process, effective now.

For those that don't know, Riley Defense [due to popular demand] is ceasing production of all their cast trunnion AK's in favor of solely producing milled trunnion AK's, and potentially milled receiver AK's. This leaves the model that I have as obsolete.
http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=308787

My reason for purchasing this rifle was for reviewing, not as a rifle for myself. Thus, it makes little sense to spend more money putting more ammo through this rifle when I could be training on other rifles.

This rifle has so far exceeded my expectations, and I'm glad that I was able to contribute to the overall development of Riley's product line. They seem to be a very attentive group of people who earnestly want to make a product that their customers will be satisfied with.

I'm honestly not sure if I will keep or sell this rifle. Though I'm happy with it, I don't need it. I would love to see a group with more resources test their new product line with the milled trunnions. I simply don't have the funds to do so.

Based on my experience with Riley Defense, it would not surprise me to find one of their milled options in my collection some time down the road. I'll be waiting eagerly to see how the new product lines fair in future reviews.

Stand by for closing remarks on this rifle in the OP.

Cheers friends

My PSA gen1 AKs are fine, cast trunnions, billet bolt.

We all know what happened with PSA gen2, I hope Riley has better luck.

It would be worthwhile to compare Riley gen1 to Riley gen2.

Very true. I may keep mine to do that if nothing else.

I like my gen1 [if I can call it that now], it's just that pretty much all of my other rifles are [go to war grade] rifles, which I don't think of my Riley as. I guess I also wouldn't think of a PSA or N-PAP as a [go to war grade] rifle either, but I wouldn't have any problem owning either if they worked properly.
