Default VZ58 Mags - poor condition/surplus

Shared this over on the vz forums, but Century has what they call poor cond mags for roughly 7.50 shipped, if 10 ordered, on their website.

I ordered 10 and then they charged me 14.95 for shipping

these came in, all work. look like bf pu. ordered 10 more

Those don't look bad at all.

The "poors" I just ordered were $5.95 each. I played around with shipping quantities and found that by only ordering 3 you get a shipping cost of $4.99 rather than the ~$15 for more (4+), so it might make sense to just place two orders for 3 mags for the most cost effective shipping if you're ordering 6.

Thanks for the heads up, OP

I only went for 3 though I had more in my cart at first. Probably wind up regretting not getting more, but oh well. Thank OP

When i saw this, my original plan was to get and cut to 20rd and some 5rd for hunting. figured they would be more damaged. the only dented has art/writing, so that plan went out window. see what happens in round 2

The three I received were plastic bagged as a set of three with no signs of rust or damage, just a little wear from being inserted. I'd rate them at least VG. Well worth the price and the $5 shipping for the three I got. YMMV.

First off, thanks for the heads up, OP

Got my mags and they were all in very good shape, no dents or bent/missing floorplates. Some had worn finish and one mag had a Czech name "Ledyak" scratched on it but they all function

Ordered some more and a few of the VZ58 mag pouches Century is selling

Same here, the name on one of mine was JANI.

I went small but still received functional and slightly used mags. One had the tab on the bottom of the mag torn off and one of the followers has rust from where the paint had worn away, but again all functions fine and I'll probably order more.

At around $7 shipped, I don't think you can go wrong with these.

All 10 of mine had finish wear from being in a pouch, no dents or trench art, and a little grease/ cosmoline on the follower. Wouldn't have minded a cool trench art mag. These average out better than the ones I picked up from keepshooting.com 2 years ago, those were half brand new, and half pulled out of a rock pile.

Ordered on 3/2/18, shipped on 3/5/18, and arrived on 3/13/18.
I checked the website and it appears they are now sold out so I must've been one of the last few people who picked them up.

All 3 has scratches, wears, and slight dents but none of them look like completely broken and cannot be used. One has no floorplate retainer and two have floorplate that are missing a little tab that covers the back part of a magazine, but they should be working just fine (However, I may have to buy an extra retainer because the magazine without one will most likely spill ammo and spring during shooting due to recoil).

All in all, money spent pretty well, given the fact that I had to buy few good condition magazines from MidwayUSA for $14.99 + shipping.

Got my 12 today too. The very top mag was on pretty good condition with the name KATKA ITA scribed into it, pretty cool. Overall I had 6 mags that were in pretty decent surplus condition, 3 were good, and 3 were what I’d call range/shooter grade. One had a tab torn off the floorplate

My second batch finally arrived today, not sure why it took so long considering I live in the same state as Century. Second batch in very good condition, no broken or missing floorplates, did not see any dents. 3 of the mags had names scratched in - "Mika," "Ikon" and "Zima." Will try to post a pic later

Overall both orders were as good or better than higher priced used VZ58 mags I purchased in the past from other retailers.

I ordered the last 23

about 1/4 were new or barely inserted
the other are used with finish wear
3 are dented and non-functional
about 1/3 have the tab broken off the floorplate
about 4 or 5 have a cracked feed lip

killer deal, my vz58 mag stash is topped off now

I actually prefer the more "beat up" ones. I deliberately order the 'Grade B' ones and get annoyed when half of the box is basically NOS ones because then that means I have to waste my time sanding that stupid epoxy off the feedlips and lugs so they rock in and out smoothly.
