Default Latest C&R scores.

I like me some AKs, but Milsurp/ C&R firearms are my true passion. The list is long.... now three less.

http://i64.tinypic.com/w2oyex.jpg

FN 49 Luxembourg (30-06)
FN 49 Egyptian 8mm with Original sling ???????
Spanish FR8

I've only really wanted the FN Luxembourg and now I feel the urge to get the 7mm and the .308.

It never ends.

I had a FN 49 in 7mm from Argentina once upon a time. Beautiful rifle with a pronounced cartouche on the stock and a different muzzle device than the others, nice to shoot but ammo was a bit scarce. If you're a collector it's well worth getting. Nice score on the rifles you posted.

Here's a couple,

But when I hear Luxembourg FN49, I must post. Mine cost $995.

Arguably one of my favorite rifles. Makes the Garand look like a pipe tied to a broomstick...

Mine cost a little more than yours Panzer.

It did come with bayonet, blank firing adapter and a bunch of spare parts. All matching - it was local and I'm happy with it!

With your extras,

I bet we broke even or you did better.. I'd love a bayonet. And spare parts are critical... I need them, except an extra stock..

Isn't it the most amazing piece of craftsmanship in autoloading 30-06 machinery? Maybe only a BAR could exceed it..?.. But that thing is a monster.

Pics?

Hopefully, I sized these right.

I tried Nails.

Couple of 2 pc firing pins, extractors, springs and other odds and ends.

Really is a nice rifle.

Love the bayonet!

And ALL the extras have to be worth it...! I'd say you did great rl96ss. Where in South Texas you reside, I'm in Austin...?... Here's an "action pic" from Caldwell...

Correct Steve. I never realized Marine Tankers were issued FN49's.

Those are really nice! The .308 just went to the top of the list.
From what I've seen the 7mm are usually the ones that are in the best shape.

Anyone have any info on the sling on the Egyptian the guy I bought it from said it very hard to come by?

I don't know if that's original Egyptian or not but it does look cool.

I've gotta quit looking at these threads... Awesome additions to the collection!

I have an Egyptian FN49 and if I were to buy another, I would try and find a Luxembourg .30-06. Love the way they look! Mine is one of the one's that Century built from surplus parts that were refinished. I've never shot it and the guy I bought it from never fired it either. Knowing Century's rep now I never would have bought it way back when. Have an FR8 as well with bayonet and frog. Perfect scout rifle imo.

Ya this post just makes me want more Milsurp. I have a huge list but was able to mark SVT-40 off my list a month ago. Just picked up a really nice m24/48 off of gunboards. My Gunbroker watch list looks more like a manifesto.

Yeah, the .308 is on my mind now. If you look at Gunbroker the FN 49s 30-06 and .308 have been going for crazy money.

Because they shoot easy to find American ammo. The Venezuelan in 7mm is my favorite to shoot (soft recoil) But 7mm ammo is not easy to find and somewhat expensive.

Shot the Egyptian and Lux a week ago and had a blast though I need to adjust the gas setting on the 8mm as the bolt wasn't locking back. I'll take that one back by itself and tweak it.

So, after getting the 8mm and 30-06, I started getting the itch to add the Argentine and found this one.

A little more "character" than the other two, but still very nice, all-matching, 3 mags and ARA marked bayonet.

I just sent my application in for C&R. What's available and where do you find them?

In the past I had some decent material. Unfortunately, I sold most of the items I had. The only C&R's I have is a Yugo M-48A, and a Chinese Type-53 - both new in the grease + a Chinese SKS bring back (no papers). All three rifles, are matching and have never been fired. I also have a TT-33 Polish 1953 - essentially new + a very good condition Rasheed.

I don't want to pay the current values for a nice C&R.

Yes it's true C&R rifles are no longer a dime a dozen, but if one does their homework they still are good investment. Unlike a new AR15 or a Cheap domestic AK they will actually increase in value over time.

The golden military surplus collector days are over but I can think of worse things to do with ones money.

For me personally I have little interest in new production Guns, Guns with History (C&R/Pre-Ban) get my attention.

I've been leaning this way recently. I have nearly all the kits to build that I want. I was late to the kit build heyday and moving on to being late to C&R.....

Thanks. This is about the only show I go to anymore, April and November. 11 acres, 4200 tables; the amount of stuff is staggering.

Speaking of the FN49 Argentine bayonets: do one of yous guys that have one, have a closer-up pic of it? I want to make sure I have a reasonable idea what I'm looking at this weekend. Thanks.

Will do - thanks. My Argentine doesn't have the "ARA" stamp on the stock - I was kind of disappointed!

I am not into kit built guns. Recently, I did buy some nice factory built modern items. Quite a few C&R's brought awesome returns for the original U.S. buyers.
