Default Finnish "TKIV" Dragunov: Still manufactured?

What's the status of this rifle now?

The finns never manufactured this rifle themselves. Got them from Russia. They are still used by the Finnish military and are not particularly well regarded according to several Finnish members over at gunboards forums.

I didn't see any of these in use when I did my duty. I know that we have some but yes they are Russian made. I know a guy who used to work for Finnish military and he was testing weapons (damn what a great job!), told me that Dragunovs saw only limited use. They were deemed not accurate enough and our military didn't find any use for it that our RK62 or our TKIV85 bolt action couldn't do.

I know that there is a hype of these things but they are really nothing special, cool of course, but I have shot Dragunov when I was in Poland and even though there was the"cool" factor I would never pay the ridiculous prices those go for in the USA.

By the way, why this couldn't be imported to USA? I'm pretty sure that these will be sold by our military at some point, caliber is something that can be used for hunting so civilians in Finland could probably buy them. Then just matter of shipping it to USA? It is semiauto, yes but with rifle stock and can be used for hunting. Not an evil assault rifle. Or is the brand something that is banned?

ATF misunderstands the trigger system and classifies a part inside as an auto sear. No go on importation without trigger modifications.

No-

Russia doesn't want to export them to the US and with the current US Executive order even if they did want to they could not due to sanctions.

No, its purely a no import EO type decision. The third trigger axis ruling is on the military version of the AK and PSL, which is why there is a civilian version of those receivers.
