Default Anyone running a Meridian BD2-AK or fighter brake? UPDATE: VG6 CAGE experiment

Anyone on here got either one? If so, how are you liking it? Is the side blast obnoxious or doable? I know the standard answer is any brake with 2 or 3 side ports will have massive concussion, but there are some out there that are far less than others.

Also, if you have either, can you please tell me the length of the brake? Trying to find a short brake that performs well for my Draco

Thanks

EDIT: Wound up purchasing the Meridian BD2-AK from AKOU

Have both on many, also run a manticore night brake on the Draco- all work well-favor the fighter brake

I can tell the difference in blast. The fighter brake has less blast then the bd2. I think the bd2 mitigates the recoil a little better. Fighter brake is lighter. Both work good. I lean more twards the fighter brake.

I have both and the BD3 from Meridian Defense.

The Definitive Arms fighter brake seems to do a little bit of everything pretty well. Definitely less muzzle rise and it does a good job of controlling flash too. It's not overly blasty in my opinion.

The BD2 has more flash and seems to do a little better job at mitigating muzzle rise but not by much. Side blast seems to be about the same as the fighter brake or maybe a little more.

My assessment is to play eenie meenie miney moe and either will work well.

My Draco is sporting the Fighter brake. The BD2 is on a rifle of mine.

Thanks for chiming in guys.

I wound up going with the BD2 shortly after making this post last night mainly due to a video I saw of Rob Ski running it, looked like the gasses went forward some (like 30 degrees) instead of straight out the sides.....if I dont like it, im sure someone will take it off my hands at a friendly price

Both.

The BD2AK is pure brake. The side blast is pretty bad. Great at what it does. Very well machined and finished.

The DA Fighter is a do all device. Probably the best blend of brake/comp/fh out there. The side blast isn’t bad. Very short and light. Very well made.

FWIW, I have both and like both. I like the Fighter brake better of the two.

I haven't used the MD but having used other two port/chamber brakes I would expect it to work very well. I am definitely a minority in not loving the FB. I don't find it really does anything well except be light....

I've had both and prefer the BD2. I didn't really notice any difference in blast of one or the other but the BD2 did a better job mitigating recoil. At least in my opinion. I have a PSAK-47 and a WBP build, both equipped with BD2s. For what it's worth the blast on the AKs is much more tolerable than the blast from the Lantac Dragon muzzle brake on my AR.

The DA Fighter Brake looks cool and is super light but doesn't really do any braking.

BD2 is a good brake and yes it is obnoxious. I just don't like the little holes that point to the rear, I get a lot of blast in the face shooting that one.

Edit:

I think the Manticore Night Brake is a good option, they provide some braking without the blast penalty.

Just installed the BD2 on the Draco.....will take it out this weekend to see what I think about it.....none of the videos I saw seemed to have it blow gas backwards but on this little guy i guess ill be inhaling lots of gas if it does do that lol

Hey just wanted to chime in the fighter brake is my favorite all around device on 16 guns but it is a flamethrower on the 12 draco but almost everything is.

I also like the RRD4C for fun but the blast is obnoxious

Fighter brake is extremely effective at reducing rise and flash on the vepr

Doing a little experimenting with the VG6 CAGE device. On my AR with a 2 port brake, it works awesome for still keeping the rifle flat and lowering the side concussion by about 50%, so in theory, it should do the same on this BD2 brake. It almost fits perfect, it slides on nice and snug (cannot use the little tab you use on the AR for it to sit over) and once you tighten the set screws it seems its on rock solid.........I would just need to take a little material off the back, and drill (2) holes through it where the ports are on the BD2 brake up top.....I dont want to permanently modify this one thats on the AR, but im going to order another one and modify it for the Draco to see how it does. If it works like I think it will, it will be awesome to have the option to run the brake fully open outdoors or CAGED indoors, plus it looks kind of cool

BD2

CAGED BD2

I have the BD2 on my WASR 10/63. You can tell a major difference with
muzzle control. It works very well for me...
