Default Scope possibilities for TWS rail

Just got the TWS dog leg on my mak-90. Love the fit and finish. Looking to get some kind of scope now. I was thinking 3x or 4x magnification. A scope with a wide range of view is a plus too. Don't have any preferences at the moment so if you have any ideas I would like to hear them!

I got a Nikon Monarch 1-4X on it. A little big and almost too much eye relief.

My recomendation: Weaver Classic 1-3 or a Bushnell Elite 1.25-4X. Got both in sidemounts, good scopes.

A few people that I have talked to about scope options have told me that the ak "47" will break the scopes because of its recoil. Is this really a problem!?

I like the 2x or 1x3, and 1x4 scopes. I have a Primary Arms 1x4 that has a great field of view (90 ft at 100 yrds) but is a little big. The Weaver 1x3 seems ideal. If you dont want a variable, a 2x shotgun scope would be my choice. Get a good quality one as they are built rugged to take the recoil of a 12 ga slug.

It must have been really shitty . I had a Tasco red dot from wal mart. $40 . Had it on an SKS for 3 years before I put it on the AK. Had it on the AK a few months but I like open sights better on AKs. Unless I TWS it and go ACOG but Im not really a red dot fan on AKs. Anyway. I still have the red dot and it still works just fine.

You might want to check out Primary Arms Compact 3x Scope. Its made for an AR, but I just bought one for my AK, didn't see any reason it wouldn't work. The reticle is nice, it can illuminate. It's about 180 bucks so it's cheaper than some of the other options out there. It has a lot of good reviews. And it's only about 5 inches long, so it's pretty small. I THINK the feild of view is only 35 feet at 100 yards tho, but don't quote me on that. It's fixed power too, btw.

please let us know how it works, along with a picture! I was considering one, but decided against it, because I thought that with it's high-base it would be too high to be comfortable.

Truglo's aren't real tough. A step above BSA/NCstar,etc. but still not super. Considering you spent $150+ for the TWS..

Weaver V3 1-3X=$150
Sightron S1 Fixed 1X $140
Vortex Strikefire Red dot+2X magnifier: $150
Primary Arms 1-4X $120
Nikon P-223 fixed 3X. $150
Decent scopes, and as cheap as I'd go. Just because cheap scopes have a way of biting you in the butt

I have to agree with MG. Good optics are pricey but worth it.

I put a BSA red dot on a WASR and it wrecked it. Lol, won't hold zero and the dot only appears in between clicks and only sometimes :P

Nice setup! I've got a Burris FF2 3-9 in a Midwest Industries siderail. Been seriously thinking about switching toa 2-7 to save a fraction of weight/size and get a wee larger FOV at low setting.

nice rifle man.... m10 right???? i would also like my front sight moved back to the gb. cut, crown, thread and pin fh since we cant have sbr in mich!( .... however, my rifle is considered a pistol here because of the folding stock...

the mi xrail is hot shit, i want one but ended up going with the tws. mine actually loosened at the hinge screws when i was sighting in the scope. i think the extra weight had something to do with it. a little loctite and im good to go.

i have never owned a 3x9 but it is on my purchase list. with the scope and fully loaded metal mag im about 9.5 pounds. the 2x7 fit nicely, i think with a 3x9 one might need a bit of a rise to get the bell above the rsb. next up is a 1x4, thats for sure....

Yes, M10. I went MI rail for the easy transition to irons... often carry the carbine with the optic off and in it's bag. Goes on when I am calling predators and such, or after wild boar.

I bought a Mueller 1-4x and I have to say I love it. The reticle is illuminated and is daylight visible. The scope is not milspec by any means but has been pretty tough so far.

Cool man! I was looking at the specs. Looks interesting, are there no crosshairs, only a red dot?

Yes sir, just a dot. I think its 4 moa. Another cool feature is that the dot is etched in the glass, so when its off you still have a black dot. Not the easiest thing to pick up on dark backgrounds but better than nothing I suppose. Its also pretty damn close to a true 1x with no blurred edges. I'd post a pic but they always come out so damn big.

Ok great, that's what I was getting at. Good to hear, I prefer an optic that still works without batteries. Nicely done and surely noted, thanks!

I prefer something that works without batteries as well, I was torn between a red dot and a low powered magnified optic. Finally went magnified
