This press is the same equipment we'll use to make the mags and all the other SVD stamped parts. We will not be making polymer mags for this rifle; however, we may make an adaptation of them for the Vepr.

The tooling cost to produce a PSL polymer mag would be a very bad business decision for anyone that would start without existing tooling for other mags, as there would be zero return on investment. With approximately 100K PSLs in the US and considering what percentage of those owners who are prospects for a PSL polymer mag, you'd never recover your tooling costs. In a receent conversation with Phil Cupelli who owns SGM (Surefire Gun Mags) he say's he's taking an existing mag mold and using insert tooling in it to make PSL mags, which is the only way it makes economic sense.
Thanks for the reply. I figured as much when it came to new manufacture of PSL mags. It would have to make sound business sense, and in this case it doesn't... as the market simply wouldn't support it.

That being said, I most certainly do hope for a favorable result in the coming election... and will definitely be watching your offerings to the market closely. Can't thank you enough for the updates. I know more than a few of us out there would love to be owners of a new production (and American made) SVD.

PSL mags are junk. It is why I got rid of my PSL. It even seems as a design flaw. Not to mention how many of them are rusted and/or pitted to hell from improper bluing.

Also there are no more PSL's really. They dried up. Parts kits have no barrel and no one is making barrels. So it's a slim market to those that 'already have a PSL'

If you are bitching about the price, it's called supply and demand. If you have a PSL and no mag guess what? You're gonna have to fork over the inflated, but, current going market value for them.

PSLs are great rifles, they just take some work. You may have gotten a bad one out of the batch. + they are about just as accurate as a military SVD.

So, you don't like PSLs, we should all give up, and we need an economics lesson.

OK, thanks for the input, now see your way out.

Bad news....

Bryan over at AIM Surplus posted this on the AR15 forum. He responded to a question on whether they will get anymore PSLs from Romania.

Hmmm... in any case... i wouldn't sell PSL. I might retire her placing on a wall, and buy something else...

I like PSLs, never said I didn't. I clearly said I don't like PSL mags. I loved my PSL, but to have mags that works sometimes and sometimes not makes the gun unreliable.

Out of 15 magazines I have or have had, there was only one that I could not adjust to work in my gun.
