I saw an Archer at a pawn shop today for $799. It had a fixed stock. I can't remember what style of muzzle brake it had. What gen had fixed stocks? Would it be worth picking up for that price?

Most likely a Gen#1, yes it's worth the money. If it has the scope rail that's a +.

Buy it! You can easily get the parts to modify to GENIII if you so desire and still be ahead.

Not a biggie, but who has in stock the (tantal?) left selector these days?

Genuine Militaria on GunBroker is where I got mine. The Tantal selector only has one arm. The Beryl has two. The second arm stops when it hits the raised bump on the top cover preventing over-rotation.

^ just got mine from RTG. Seems to be in good condition. Don't have much money at the moment so only ordered one, then again I already have one Circle10 that fits my Beryl and two green OEM mags so with total of four Beryl mags I have enough for now.

AK-Pirate - that's yours? Beautiful and, apart from the safety lever, mil-spec as it gets! There's even clamp-on bipod. Very nice!

Yes it's mine. I've been on the fence about the selector but I'm starting to lean towards getting a new one.

I guess it was a little bit of an effort getting all the right parts. Congrats!

I finally broke down and got a 512 for it. Glad I did.

Looks good bro now its damned near perfect, the left side selector is no biggy to put on knock out the pin on the right side of safety cross bar and then just reinstall using the part from robertrtg, you dont even need to repin it and I wouldnt anyway, I leave it out on my Tantal it makes disassembly easier, and using that selector on the left as a safety is akward at best the leverage isnt quite there, it just sits there now for looks on my Tantal

Really, it doesn't take much to turn a v3 into a good WZ96c clone. Replace the safety with an uncut one, get teh right pistol grip, and machine out the bayonet & accessory lugs. Do that, and you're about as far as possible without select fire.

For a v2, do those things + add the left side selector and a 3rd rivet to the rear trunnion (trunnion already has the hole for it but receiver does not).
Also, some early v2s didn't come with the collapsing stock, though most either had it installed or it was loose in the box.
And others didn't come with the POPC rail system, so might need that.

As for the v1, really its not possible to make it into a 100% correct clone. The barrel is too short and it has 14x1 threading in front of the sight base. Its still a damn good rifle, just kind of a hybrid of Beryl & Tantal; thanks I.O.!

FYI: RobertRTG has Beryl side folding stocks at the moment. 'Good' for $130 or 'Excellent' for $190.
