Default 20rd. 5.45 mags?

I wanted to know if anyone, com-bloc countries, have ever made 20rd mags in 5.45. Something along the lines of a Hungarian tanker mag. I really like the way 20's handle in a rifle, both ar and ak. Wouldn't mind finding some if they were ever made. Thanks in advance.

Your best bet for 5.45 would be the 10rd magazines

Apex has Russian polymers for $20

and gunmagwarehouse has the Molot ones for $30

They were never officialy made, OP.

You'll find a few 20-round "chop jobs" made here in the US

Looks like your only options are crummy Promags.

I looked at the Bad Element website but didn't see a way to make contact. Is he a member here? I thought the 20rd bakelites looked good.

Cutting down a 30 round steel Polish Tantal mag is not too difficult. A worn or dented bottom area is the best candidate.

I’ve thought about cutting down a bulgy black or firebrick, seems pretty straight forward, use a razor saw to cut the slots for the base?... trim a couple coils from the spring?

No need to shorten the spring in my experience on shortening steel mags.

I have seen the cut down poly mags., but never fully trusted a slot vs a true protruding lip in the mag body to retain the floorplate.

I prefer 20's for my 74 pistol as truck gun/hiker buddy.
Thx for the dm/emails. Any the referrals guys
Heres some examples

From durability stand point
1) tantal or any steel or ribbed molot plum/black- my favorite.
2) polymer true black or plum*, commercial 5.45 ie polish/bulgy
3) bakelite, critical that precision is made on the cuts and the right floorplate, plum poly too.

I do shorten the springs some, have found some increase in reliability and among customers. Its not a bad mod I do have some walk throughs burried here but will be doing a info-video series soon on common mods.

+ 1000 for Bad Element. He did four mags for me and I am impressed as hell. They look factory and right at home on a rifle

Romanian 5.45 mags were made in 20,30 and 40 round capacity. You don't see the 20s and 40s much here in the states. The 20s were for the 5.45 version of the aimr, the aims74 used the standard 30 round mags that are easy to find here, and the 40 rounds are for the 5.45 rpk.

You'll be way cheaper either modding a 30 round or buying a modded one from Bad Element.

To the guy up above with the bakelite, that's a great mag, I'd love to have that one myself, it'd look great in a 74 prototype build.

I've looked for a factory 20 rder for quite awhile for my 104ur. I've heard rumors of a north korean variant, but never romanian. Got a source or any information? Thanks.

Another recommendation for Bad Element. I got a 15 rounder from him and it's a great size for a teaser mag or range mag.
