Default These Things Are Habit forming Picked up the SAM7R Earlier Today

I've had my eye on an Arsenal SAM 7R at the gun shop/range I frequent several times a week for well over a month now.

Couldn't resist any longer.

Looks beautiful OP. Was it new for that price? I have 2 Bulgarian Arsenals (107FR & SA-93) and the milled SA93 is ridiculously nice. I've been eyeing the SAM7SF and want to make a AR-M9 Clone with the thumb selector.

They wanted to sell it as much as I wanted to buy it, so they gave me what I believe is a very good deal on a NIB SAM 7R.

Nice rifle. It's a favorite of mine. Great shooter, nice trigger. $1150 is a good deal.

Check the GD subforum...
My habit is temporarily cured by the wide availability of the RAS47 and lack of anything else. Wait... Dunham's stocks the IO.

Figures that you're on the opposite side of FL. No one around here cares for AK's so if you do see one, it's a Century POS. Congrats on the score!!

You got lucky with that one OP, upper tier gun there. Noticed it has the same break as the earlier SLR101S.

You'll never need another AK.

You'll probably want another, but you'll never need another.

Congrats!

Milled Arsenals are great rifles, I added a Sam5 to my Sam7 a few months back. Those are 2 that I will never sell.

These are the best. WASR fans can blow all the smoke they want and nothing feels like a real milled receiver AK. I say "real" because the century cast milled lookalike does not count.

WASR's are great stamped AK's. I'm happy they're available to us. That being said, all I buy now are milled Bulgies, because I agree they do feel world's better.

It's like SKS's, which are (excluding the very few, rare stamped ones) are milled. Those feel so much nicer to shoot than most AK's, IMO.

Agree, definitely not dissin the WASR. Just saying they are not even on the same playing field with the SAM7.

I wasn't able to get to he range today dammit; and I can't wait to put some rounds through this rifle; I've been bitten by the AK bug BAD.

I'm in my sixties and have just recently discovered AKs and they're they're terrific.

And addictive.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments.

That's because it's basically the same Gun. I purchased my SLR101s back in 2012 for 1K. Flawless after 1000's of rounds.

I made a few changes to my SLR. (Flash Hider/Galil PG/adjustable stock.

That is how I want my 101 look, nice! Only changed out the PG so far. Picked up mine the end of 2012 too for about the same. They are keepers!

I just returned from the range this afternoon after having run 100 rounds through the new Arsenal SAM 7R and it was very smooth shooting, and accurate with perfectly centered sights, felt very well balanced at the shoulder with a very nice trigger, was comfortable with ergonomic furniture, and presented surprisingly little recoil impulse that was reminiscent of that of a 5.56mm AR.

Overall; it has the feel and slick operation of a high quality rifle.

One thing I noticed, is that it runs somewhat hotter at both the gas tube and the barrel than my N-PAP when fired at the same rate of rapid fire strings of 3 rounds interspersed with a short rest period.

My first impression is that I'm far more than simply satisfied with the rifle and I am very glad to have bought it.

Now I need to research rail and optic options because this rifle is getting one some time after Christmas.

Another gratuitous picture because I'm really loving this rifle.

It is by far my favorite rifle, the only upgrade so far that Iíve done is add a blue force gear sling to it. I actually just yesterday got a ALG xp recoil spring and UL AKT trigger kit to try to upgrade that shitty factory trigger. I also plan to add a rs regulate scope mount and a posp x4 scope to it. Will also down the road add a nicer muzzle brake to it, not sure which yet. Also I Might add a Khyber custom cheese grater upper hand guard, and maybe just maybe a wood dong but thatís still on the drawing board.

That's a very nice setup.

How do you like that rail and optic?
