Default Using braided hammer spring on a century rak trigger

Hello all,

So the century rak1 trigger comes with a non braided hammer spring. Do you all think there would be any issues using the braided hammer spring from a tapco g2 trigger on the rak1 hammer?

You can use the braided spring it will run fine! Might as well order an ALG trigger and swap it all out at the same time. Trust me you will not be disappointed!

Thanks for the reply. Ive actually used the alg triggern and I wasnt a big fan I much prefer the stagey feel of the rak. The alg feels to me alot like the g2 trigger.

Why not use the wolf spring that comes with the rak?

Hmmm. Central Texas. OP lives right up the street from you. Ever find toilet paper in your trees?

I've always wondered why I see so many AR15 trigger springs being sold as AK trigger springs. Now I know.

Its much harder to manipulate to me than the g2 braided spring, taking it out and putting it back in are a pita. The braided spring just seems to be easier to manipulate. On top of that, the braided spring just looks more ak to me.

Huh... How... how did that even happen?! Or is the RAK trigger superior enough to warrant that much effort over just leaving the stock triggers in?

I got g2s in the other ones but dont want any carrier tail peening so i refuse to use the g2 trigger in them. I’ll eventually buy another rak trigger in time. Also, as I mentioned on most aks I know of, braided hammer spring is whats in them, so ill probably swap out for braided when I get a second rak trigger. It may not matter but oh well, just wanted to know if I could do it.

G2s don't cause "tail peening" any more than OEM FCGs.

We've done this to death here.

I don't know what springs RAK's came with, but in the 4 I've used, they were junk. Easily bent and don't hold shape when installing. Replaced with braided Polish surplus springs and triggers operate very well.

If you really fear the tapco hammer that much, just buy a couple surplus hammers and swap them in. Cheaper that way.

My what thread?

What part of "trading goods for services" constitutes "begging"?

You know this isn't Dumping Brass, right?

What you don't know . . .

Yes you are right. I said "can't" when I should have said "won't"

What I really think is maybe the OP, don't know much and wants to know something that he ain't sure about and in his inexperience asked an honest question. Cause after all, as soon as you get your very first Ak then you must instantly know everything about them by osmosis.

You guys may see a newbie that don't know shit.

I'm seeing someone with some potential, that isn't secure in his ability. So he simply asked a question. I have no problem with honest questions from someone that simply dunno.

Anyone that don't like the attitude from me toward this HOBBY then well I just dunno what to say about that.

I really hate the tail peening threads. But I just live for the "what's the best muzzle break" threads.

The recent WASR rifles have Century's RAK-1 trigger installed, with what I suppose is the original Romanian braided hammer spring. Mine has worked perfectly fine with such a spring.

It does lessen carrier tail peening, and in my opinion the RAK-1 is a really nice trigger. It has a nice second stage, so you know when it is about to break. I've slowly been changing all my Tapco FCG's over to RAK-1's, because I hate the "blind" break of that FCG.

I replaced a few of my AK's with RAK-1 trigger groups and I kept the original braided trigger springs in. I just had a hunch they'd be better...

My recent WASR 10 bought new came with a RAK 1 trigger and a braided hammer spring.

I like the RAK 1 triggers and have replaced the G2 triggers in several of my AK's. I do use the braided springs instead of the wire ones that come with the new RAK 1 triggers.

I changed out my trigger and hammer in my 10/63 to the RAK1. I really like it but that wire spring was a PITA to put in. I contemplated using the braided one that came with the gun but thought it would be best to go with the wire one that came with the kit. Oh well, we all learn sometime I guess.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Just to add to the conversation, I noticed there is a slight difference in the feel of the trigger pull between the braided and non braided trigger. Witht the braided option on the rak trigger, its slightly more gritty and adds to the pull weight a touch. Ive attributed this to the braided trigger spring having a higher fraction factor/surface roughness than the non braided trigger (the one that came with the rak), hence a little more drag on the walls of the receiver with the braided one.
