Default Pakistani Tokarev AK

I acquired this magazine { https://www.gunbroker.com/item/803352076 } and plan to turn a partial krink kit I had collected, into a 7.62x25 tokarev ak using the paki mag. Does anyone know who makes a 7.62x25 chambered barrel blank?

Keep us posted on your build. A tokarev AK a grail gun of sorts for me.

I used to make them but its been awhile.

You will want a .308 bore
A 1-10 twist will work a 1-12 better.

A reamer is all you really need if you have the ability to profile a blank.

How big of a hurry are you in??
I might have something pre chambered that's 23 mm at the breach.

Are you doing blow back or gas operated ,? Both have been done.

That mag wasent cheap.
I never seen one before.

Shame 7.62x25 got so expensive

I had planned on doing blow back. I am not in a huge hurry but want to get moving the the right direction soon. I have a clausing 111 lathe and I can reprofile the barrel. I just have never worked with reaming a chamber. I am sure I could learn just was hoping to find something already prechambered.

Yes it sucks the ammo is expensive but I just picked up a 2400 rds of norinco yellow box for sub $220 otd at a local gun shop.

No the mag wasnt cheap but there is only 2 that I know of in the country currently. I am sure that will change at some point but probably not by many.

OMG you scored huge on the ammo.

Chambering can be done easily by hand with the lathe running slow.
I chamber most of my stuff with the tool post wrench by hand.

Not looking for a chambering debate but I'll just say some of the most accurate rifles in the world are chambered with a hand held reamer.

So before you shell out $75 or likely more for someone to chamber a blank or buy a chambered blank you can have a reamer for about $120 and do lots of barrels.

I'm in the middle of getting rid of current lathes and mills and setting up better ones in my shop so it would be awhile before I could help.

I did a lot of two groove demilled Spring Field drill rifle barrels back in the day. Used to get 5 for $15 and rechamber the cut barrels

Can you point me in the right direction for a chamber reamer? I wouldn't know who to buy one from.

Does the bore for 7.62x25 need to be .308? I have lots of M72 barrel stubs. May can fine one long enough to reprofile.

PTG and others sell 7.62x25 reamers. I'd recomend one with a removable pilot. Keep a eye on Ebay.

The bore should really be 308 . The bullets will be 308 .
I never measured a Norinco one buy Romy and the other ammo were .308.

A .310 bore will work but on your stubs your going to have to cut and set the barrel back so far you wont ha e a stub left to fit the trunion . It will shoot but accuracy will not be the best. You will need a differant reamer pilot as well.

Your using some very high dollor parts like a $300 mag
$40 or less will find you a bare blank or a bolt action take off barrel . ( many savage 308 is 1-12)

If your not in a hurry I might gave something but it's going to be a few months or so .

Guys have sleeved existing barrels from sub machine guns as well.

ginsboy on youtube built a 7.62 tok ak.I think he used ppsh mags ( so he had more than 1 lol). that 300$ mag may fit, but run reliably?I feel like its putting alot of pressure on one item of your build.

If the mag doesn't run reliably, well then I fix it. Same as any other. Worst case I need to make my own follower but I doubt that any problems will exist that cant be remedied by modifying the existing parts.

That would be super cool to shorten a milled receiver. I just pulled out a front stub and a milled rear reweld section that would be a neat project!

There is no turning back for this parts kit now. Many more late nights in the shop will be spent on this project.

It matches my other parts for the kit. Where I cut it should leave the same 4 sn's on it to match the bcg etc

This is awesome! I've been trying to plan a 7.62x25 tok krink ever since I handled a fake MP5 kit in that round.

Sorry to clutter your 7.62 Tok krink build, but here's my motivation...

Kyber Pass "MP5" AK on a milled receiver:

I got quite a bit done so far but there is still tons left. I got the bolt carrier modified to be shorter and direct blow back design. I milled out the trunnion opening to fit the magazine front notch. The mag is going to take a little bit of work though. The rear catch plate spot welds are broken free from the mag body. But otherwise it loads and unloads (25) rounds like any other magazine would. So I think it will feed just fine when fired.

I still need to reweld on the charging handle. But here is the process I went through to convert the carrier over to blow back.

I'm amazed, and more than a little envious at the talent some of you guys have.

A little bit machinist, a little bit Thomas Edison, and a little bit mad scientist.....

Lol yea there was quite a bit of new metal needed to reshape things the way I needed. But the welding has only just begun. The receiver will be cut in I believe 4 places, the triangle stock is getting shortened as well as the dust cover.

That's crazy you bought that mag, I saw it too and my gears were turning. I like the idea of a 7.62 tokarev AK but not 9mm for some reason.

You could use a CZ-26 magazine, was it chambered in 7.62x25mm?

late to the party, but I built a tokarev ak in blowback. ALOT of hand fitting, filing, and fckery to make run consistently and smoothly but well worth the money and time invested.

Standard/ full length NDS3 receiver
milled rear recoil rod with full length spring
(must use a buffer so the carrier doesn't hop the rails in rear, and for short stroke)
one off carrier/bolt combo with weighted piston nub
one off trunnion with oversized .311 barrel pin
one off magwell and release
uses pps43 magazines
standard trigger group
pps43/ppsh41 16" stainless replacement barrel from KP-Products on gunbroker---guy does PHENOMENAL work on these
Romy rear trunnion
EG rsb
Chinese rear sight leaf
Hungy gas tube chopped, heated, swedged, and turn pressed
DDI fsb combo, from when they were $19 on AOA
Currently wearing MI t1 rails, but has,
RPK lhg retainer-- have an rpk wood lower for it also which was on originally
cut down vepr thumbhole for a wood grip
romy lever folder stock

everything else is pretty much standard and press fit and pinned
barrel was sleeved and pinned for the trunnion to meet 23mm, and again at the lhg retainer to fit an rpk retainer
barrel turned down and threaded and tantal brake reemed for 30 caliber and timed and pinned for length
roughly $850 into the build, more if I end up swapping for a nicer Childers receiver, then maybe just shy of $1k, however I was hesitant to screw up a receiver when we first started tinkering with the idea of just using full length stamped akm pattern with a buffer

magwell locks into the lower lip of the front trunnion like an ak mag, and is retained under pressure to the trigger guard which is standard riveted in and shares a pin with the mag release and serves as a way to secure the back of the magwell in
the magwell itself has the feed ramp, and the barrel face is polished to mate as well like in an m4 upper with feed ramps

all in all it shoots and handles well. very accurate with literally no felt recoil, and the gun and loadout with 4 loaded 35rd mags weighs together just under 10lbs for all of it. it doesn't get very hot since its blowback so that's a plus also.
