Default Do people like the Yugo M85PV?

I think they are awesome but there seems to be few threads or posts from owners. Do people like them?

I have one. Tapco makes a Magazine for it, or used to. The Yugo steel mags for the Pistol/ rifle are also of course the standard magazine and are first rate magazines.
Many discount AK Pistols, and for that matter AR Pistols, and for a variety of reasons.
Adding a Brace aids in stability and aiming, but can still be fired with out traditional aiming - ie; from the hip or side, or using a bungie type sling. Great SUV or Truck Guns in a rifle caliber.

No chrome lining in the barrels have always been the main reason I avoid Yugo stuff, plus some of the furniture is really funky.

I've hunted an M85PV for a long time. I almost bought one several times when they were being imported for $~400 but somehow the money was always needed elsewhere.

Next thing I knew it was the M85NP with the goofy looking AR mag adapter.

Then by the time I got around to being okay with the NP, the NP up and got discontinued.

The M85PV is on a short list of 'must buy' AK variants I want, but sadly there are few for sale and the folks that sell them seem to want $1k or more. Crazy.

I saw one local a while ago for around $475-500 something, can’t remember, but I wasn’t interested as I already had an M92

Now if it had been the model that takes STANAG... different story

My buddy sold me one. I am supposed to SBR it. My only gripe was non standard parts in some areas but it is a 5.56 AK after all. I love it. Just can never find enough owners to talk guns with about it.

Zastava Arms USA’s catalog shows an M85 pistol with the standard mags. So they may become available again, and hopefully they bring boatloads of the mags too.

I have one and I love it, I have to figure out a way to suppress it then it would be prefect.

The M85NP is pretty nice. It's pretty much like a little Vepr. It's NATO spec. Has thick receiver (1.5mm), bulged trunnion, chrome-lined barrel. Probably has a heavy barrel, but not sure about that. Runs STANAG mags.

PMags have recently become the main magazine for one of the US military branches, I think it's the Army. Not sure which. PMags are really good mags. It's taken me a while to realize that, but if you do the research, you will discover that they are an outstanding magazine.

I just agreed to buy this CNC warrior M85NP. My first Krink and I’ve been looking for an AK that takes AR mags. I’m psyched. We can’t transfer in Rifle “pistols” into MA but we can transfer this and then I can form 1 it. So go figure. Stupid f’n laws.

That is a legal rifle, you can form 1, your saying you can't form 1 a pistol?

I have a M85PV and a M92 and love them both. I have a ton of steel Yugo mags in addition to the one polymer that came with when I bought it new at the end of last year for around $500. Mag availability is an issue for the PV so if you're considering one keep that in mind. While I understand why people like the NP model for its ability to use STANAG mags I personally prefer the PV over it...but if I could score a NP I'd do that in a heartbeat!

Right now I have a SB Tactical SB47 brace that I swap between my two Yugo pistols until I can get my gunsmith to drill and tap the rear trunnion and install the StormWerkz UCA. I'll slap on a SB Tactical SBA3 on both of them along with the StormWerkz scope mount and a Primary Arms RDS and call it a day. Both are a hoot to shoot and the M85 shoots so softly (for lack of a better term) it's an excellent choice for someone new to AKs who might get put off but the recoil of 7.62x39s...

The M85NP is a nice starting point, I put the TWS dog leg and blade brace that fits under the PG. Finished it off with the CNCW four part flash hider. It eats anything I put thru it but it does not get much love since I have other options.

Good companion piece to any longer AR since they both use same mags and ammo.

That's correct, all Zastava 556's have the chrome lined barrels and bulged trunnion.

Default Zastava is GTG

My M77 barrel is not chrome lined.
Only shoot quality brass cased non corrosive ammo, so I don't care.
I know it's not the model you're interested in.
But it's been flawless, right out of the box, with a wide variety of manufacture and weight ammo.

That is correct. We got some pretty ass backwards laws in MA. I’m LE so that’s why I can even still transfer an AK into the state. Rifle “pistols” aren’t on our approved handgun roster and they are considered an AWB so they are not transferable.

I’ve looking for one of these cnc warrior builds for a while as they were pistols converted to a rifle. I’m sure I will form 1 it down the line but I actually like the look of faux can.

So i have a m85 pistol and i feel like the brace makes it feel unwieldy: what to expect from using a sling instead of a brace

I bought a M85NP from Centerfire for $399.
Converted it to a rifle with a 16 inch Bulgarian CLHF barrel. CNC Warrior folding stock.
Converted a M85 kit using the same barrel type and added a PAP rail relocated forward.

Holy crap, I can't stop looking at them....dayummmmm.

I love my M85NP, but staring at that rifle makes me want to do the same thing, what a great 5.56 AK that is, nice work man! How much would something like that cost to have done?

Not too bad if you can do the work yourself.

The Bulgarian CLHF barrels are a little odd and go on sale for $125 sometimes. I purchased one in the Marketplace here for $100 with the
RSB.
The take off M85 parts can be sold to recover some money.

I wanted a 5.56 AK that used AR mags and was 100% reliable.
The build satisfied that need.
It did require a custom length gas tube based on the gas port location., but that is not a big deal.

Probably have $785 in the top build and the take off M85 front end assembly can sell for $165 as an overall cost reduction.

The PAP pistol prices have gone up by $200 in todays prices though.
