There are various adapters for buttstocks out there from Stormwerkz, Ace and RS products.

I mentioned this on the facebook page already, but I just picked up a kit in anticipation of these. I'm excited to get myself some Czechnology!

Might be like reinventing the wheel to get an AK mag to work in a Vz58 and likely lose the BHO feature, though there are AR mag adapters readily available for 5.56 versions of the Vz58 -- next logical step, a 6.5 Grendel Vz58.

Once you start shooting a good Vz58, any concern about magazine compatibility with the AK fades away. Just buy some good surplus mags and you'll be fine.

Was hitting the gong every shot at 300 yards the other day with my CSA, with several types of ammo. Of course, CSA uses Lothar Walther barrels, which make a big difference, I think.

Think of the Vz58 as a refined AK. They are sweet!

- Hand guards: CNC Warrior makes an upper. Would that count as one part?

- Gas piston: CNC Warrior hasn't made theirs for years. I spoke to the owner a few weeks ago and he hemmend-and-hawed about it. Maybe an increase in requests would inspire him. Another route would be to get a Century Arms make from one of their VZ2008's, although some batches have been reported to bend.

That's five, and with the receiver, it would be six. I would go with six as the striker -- a.k.a. "linear hammer" -- may, or may not, be considered a hammer when dealing with 922r.

Apex has US-made barrels for sale, but most kits come with a milsurp chrome-lined one and that would probably be better. Just have to extend it with a permanent muzzle device.

You could also go the route that Czechpoint does, and switch out the followers and/or floor plates. Doable but less desirable.

Any other ideas or resources?

Czechpoint uses a US-made trigger on their Vz58s, polymer, but serviceable. Don't see it on their website, but they might sell you one or get one from somebody who replaced it with a steel trigger.

Czechpoint is also the only place I've seen that sells the US Phantom flash hider threaded 14x1RH for the Vz58.

The US Tapco SAW pistol grip will fit on a Vz58, IMO more ergonomic than any of the standard Vz58 grips.

For some reason, CNC Warrior hasn't offered their US-made gas piston in a while, which would seem like an easy 922r compliant part. Apparently they had problems fitting in Century Vz2000s, though would seem to work fine in a good CSA / Czechpoint Vz58.

Oh, I know how awesome they are. I had one before I ever got into AK's. Sold it to fund my first AK as a matter a fact. Never got back into them because I don't like having more types of mags than I need.
Perhaps one day I'll have another...

Pick up a kit myself off AOA, what work will be required for a 80 percent ? Might be fun to do the machine work , but if too hard will go with a 100 percent

unfinished features would be similar to an AK
Axis pins, selector, trigger slot and solid tab between center.

Dang, decisions to make. Great looking receiver OP!

Already have 2 VZ-58s. One built on a early ORF receiver, the other on a CNC Warrior receiver & both shoot great. VZ-58s are pretty sweet, but now I have to think about number 3. Got 1 de-mil kit left, should I build it? Hmmm...

This reminds me of early AK collecting days, before way too many.

Magpul AK grips are what I use on all of my 58s, they dont take much to modify. Its a little easier if you grind off that stupid cup that the standard ones are supposed to fit into but it isnt necessary. I would be surprised if US Palm grips didnt fit just as well.

I personally like the Yugo Zhukov stock with the RS adapter or the stormwerkz hinge with a buffer, triangle or Ace stock as you prefer.

As far as hanguards go, both the zhukov and regular moe handguards are pretty easy to modify to fit.

The suppliers were talking this spring. I am guessing whoever is doing the castings is having issues. The CNC programs are written. If you are working on receivers for a small market like $600 308 Galil receivers where there are no kits and $100 magazines verses a $250 much larger VZ58 market where kits a available and accessories are cheap, to me, doesn't make much business sense.

Castings? I was under the impression that Tortort receivers were billet.
Not that it matters, just curious.

he had warp issues when the milled ak receivers were being made, but is now worked out. i wonder if the vz58 is having the same issues all over again due to the different shape or something?

Do they need to go through BATFE every time they make a run?

No problems at all, these are easy for us. We are trying to make room for these.
We use solid billet steel, not castings.

We have never used castings.

The 308 galil is an easy edit from our 5.56 so it was quick to bring to market.

VZ 58 is nothing like an ak or galil. VZ are starting from scratch with zero part interchaneabilty.

Were working on it and will post here with updates.
Thank you
