I hope Dave brings in spare parts like extractors and other internal parts to keep us SIG 556 plebs happy and to enjoy our knock-off SIG's since I can't afford to drop money on an original (plus I'd only want the rifle version anyway, not interested in the pistol or to SBR it).

Dave does have small parts. I believe he will have them on his website this week

Picked up the 550 last week, couldn't be happier. Only problem I'm having is I have a couple of the original QD scope mounts with the 6x42BL Hensoldts and can just get them snapped on top but the lock will not close on either. They fit my other Sigs and lock down fine but the new 550 is a no go. At closer look it appears Sig has moved the location of the rear sight up about an 1/8 inch on the receiver. Just enough that however the mounts lock is not able too. Now on the newer style QD mount with rail and slide lock there is just enough adjustment on rear pin to make it work thank god.
Not the end of the world just a matter of driving out pin on the high pressure spring on the old style mounts and modify to make it work and lock. Just thought I would mention it and see if anyone else had that issue. https://imgur.com/a/4D8bmYL

That looks really good. I imagine it is difficult to find that glass.

The SAN weapons (by brand name) have become the most numerous items, in my collection !

Nothing more sad than a lonely 55X stock sitting in a safe...
Never thought Iíd have the chance to any Swiss 55X series and am thankful Dave stepped up!
Missed a blue star maybe I can grab a ďredĒ edition

I am very impressed with my new 550P!
Amazes me that they havenít changed in all these years and they were able to build them with very minimal changes!

I do. I have one of the 553P's brought in by SS USA a few years ago. It's every bit as well made as my old SIG 510:

I've never been disappointed with true Swiss Quality.

But the Next on my list is a 553R or 553LB but I want an exact copy of the stgw 07 and then a P-210-4 or 5 and hopefully a Blum 550

I picked up a beautiful 550 last week - thank you. I purchased a SIG 550 from SOG Int some time at the end of 1988/89. I think I paid around $1,850 - maybe less ? Somewhere in that neighborhood. A few years later, I sold it NIB to Vollmer's and thought I did great.

I assumed we would never have another opportunity to obtain any genuine SIG/SAN items - aside from the Armati pistols. Even better (due to Dave's work) you can essentially obtain the entire product line - including amazing special editions.

Waiting for Dave to announce the STGW 57 . Maybe when Sarah Palin is elected. Dave already brought over several Unicorns.

StormSG553, i might have a spare 'Blue Star' edition depending on when those actually come in and what comes before/after.
If i can help out, feel free to e-mail me.

And i have a question for you (everyone), Do you know the exact specs for the STGW.04/07?
What I (think) I know: 13.7" single piece barrel, Picatinny rail w/ BUIS, and newer ones at least also come with the horizontal cocking handle.
What I am unsure of: grey or black metal? green or black furniture? and is the 2 or the 4 pos. gas regulator the standard?
Regarding the stock, looking at SAN's catalogue, it seems carbines with diopters ship with the fixed folding stock; and those with the rail come with the adjustable folding stock. Can anyone confirm this?
Curious if any of the military guns have the newer alloy lower? or if all have the orig stamped steel?
Of course I know that SAN will pretty much build to order so....

Also that some STGW.04/07s in service are actually older SG552s that were upgraded with the official SAN 552-553 conversion upgrade kit.
So I would imagine these carbines retain diopters and other traditional features?

Speaking with Dave, we really don't know the configuration the SG551LBs will be coming in as. "Should" be black on black, probably alloy lower, diopter sights, and 17.8" single piece barrel; but honestly who knows? He did ask SAN for a couple pictures and was told no as the pistols were already boxed up for shipping.
Hopefully these are here by this time next week so Dave can ship them before he leaves out for Switzerland on the 21st.

If so, then i have to make another choice: keep the LE trade in SG551 LB from M.M. or the new SG551LB from JDI?

I hope it is as easy of a choice as keeping the new JDI SG550 and selling my old preban SG550-1SP was.

We recorded a video comparing the 2 550s: one from 1988 and the other from 2018. It was truely amazing how little things changed over 30 years.
Just tiny, minor stuff. Nothing to worry over.
That one will be published this month sometime, didn't want to overload youtube with Swiss videos haah.

That would be awesome of you...
Ironically I’m the one that posted an “550 blue star interest” page on Facebook of those that would be willing to get one through JDI.
Dave said he couldn’t see it happening with no interest.
2 weeks later he made the announcement... lmao!
Of course after buying a green 550 and an LB 551 I was spent!
Two fast for me...

As far as the STGW 07
From what I’ve seen from the grenadier, MP spez Det And ARD-10 photos
Everything I’ve seen is

Gray with green furniture
Rail model with BU sights
13+” single piece barrel
B&T quad rails on “most” have seen some photos with cheese grater
and pic rail sections
Side folding collapsible stock
Flat style charging handle
Optics appear to be “mostly” Aimpoint micros with riser
and possibly eotech? Magnifier

heh I know what you mean..waited months for SAN to ship us something...anything, and then all of a sudden we get FDE SG553, Heavy Metal SG553, SG550P, and now the SG551LBs seem to be a month early.
So before commiting to a couple Blueballs, i made sure they weren't due in anytime soon. Dave said December at the earliest.
Which probably means Feb or March of 2019.
If i can help, happy to do so.

Thanks for the info on the STGW04/07. I was pretty sure about the rail and single piece barrel, but not as sure on the colour scheme.
Here's another question then, ever see any Swiss military units with the 8.9" SG553SB variant?
I understand the 13.7" LB would be more versitile and flexible, but could also see a few situations where the shorty might just come in useful.

Just a thought I had...with green furniture on it, how close to an STGW.04/07 would the 'Heavy Metal" 553LB end up looking?

All be it a bit of a battlefield warn 04/07 haha.

Pretty close at least from what I’ve seen of the stgw07 and the pics of your heavy metal
But honestly your green gray 553 with the barrel extension is pretty close minus barrel length
That’s on my list is an 07 build but if I had the funds I’d take a heavy metal
Other than the barrel and paint job I’d think it was pretty much the same as you said.

The one difference I would personally change is the gas block and retaining cap...I’d see if I could Ilaflon gray those pieces or get a close cerakote match
But even that doesn’t bother me.. like you said battlefield look
Other than that I’d just throw on a quad rail green adjustable side folder and grip

Here's where I am at....

First though, there's 1 concession i will make for a 553LB/STGW04/07 clone. No matter what, i would get a 2 piece barrel.
Its just logical. The single piece is so limiting. With the 2 pc, you can always make it look like a 1 pc w/ the right flash hider (COGS made some near-exact clones of the 550 FH threaded 1/2x28 for example).
And there's the whole, just pin on a long FH to make it a carbine & not mess with SBR paperwork.
So yeah, doing that regardless.

My 2 paths to decide from:

1) Keep both an SB and LB,
SG553SB - grey/green, steel lower, rotex FH, rail, & folding brace
SG553LB - FDE/black, alloy lower (i think these are oddly cool), extended MFI FH, rail, & folding/adjustable stock

2) Go economically responsible and just keep an LB
SG553LB - Heavy Metal grey/green (furniture swap is very easy), steel lower, extended MFI FH, rail, & folding/adjustable stock.

Benefit to #1 is i have 2 guns and more variations with the rotex + short barrel, and the alloy lower on the other.
Benefit to #2 is it will cost less and if the HM is a good enough match for a (battlefield) STGW04/07, really thats what i want in the end.

Keep the FDE and HM in my opinion since they are limited, if that matters...but the HM could make a decent 07 clone.
Iíd sell your gray / green SB 553

You can order the standard 553 any time as we are aware they are a continuous imports

I also assume Dave will release more special editions, in the future. Anything is possible - How about a BlueStar 551SB with pic rail, steel lower, and two piece barrel (Rotex FH) etc... Something like that.

Perhaps the last 19 553R's built will be different.

Funny you mention my SG553SB grey/green and ordering one....
Because originally, that gun was supposed to be a 553LB: single pc barrel, grey, green, steel lower, and rail.
It wasn't til it came in that we realised they got everything right, except the barrel length.
On the otherhand, it was supposed to have the usual 2 pos. gas regulator and after I had it a day or two, i realised SAN had put the 4 pos. in.
I called Dave and he said i just got a $150 upgrade, so not arguing with that haha.

Probably for the best, since then I've decided the 2 pc barrel is the way to go anyway.

I can't keep both the HM & FDE, not for myself and not forever. Running a store, i get to babysit all kinds of guns, but eventually most all have to find perminant homes.
I can afford to keep 1....maybe 2, 553s. If i do keep 2, then they will be an 553SB and 553LB.
If just one, then a 553LB.
The STGW04/07 has kind of been a gun I've wanted ever since getting a SIG Sauer SIG556P back in 2009 or so.
Its a little, compacted STGW90...how cool is that?!?!

Speaking of the '90, had my SG550P out today and put the first couple mags through it. Only about 50-60 rds because it was threatening rain but enough for a basic function test and to get a feel for how it shot vs my old preban.
Needless to say, it was 100% and just pure fun.
