Default Are the black circle 10 556 mags ever coming back

I've been wanting an SLR-106 for years now, and just when I'm getting ready to pull the trigger, I see every circle 10 mag has already been bought up by scalpers trying to make a quick buck on gunbroker.

Are they ever going to be imported again? I'd really like an SLR-106 but if I can't find mags for them, why bother?

KVAR says they will after Arsenal Bulgaria fills their military contracts, and as long as there's a market I see no reason to doubt them...

I say the GET the SLR106! It's a good rifle or pistol! I am sure that Arsenal/K-VAR will get more of the Black Polymer ((10)) 30rd 5.56 mags as soon as Bulgaria fills their military contract as what "amadeus76" mentioned above.

For the mean time, the Radam Poland AK 5.56 30rd Magazine that AoA sells will work just fine on the SLR106 rifles/pistol. It's a good substitute until the Black 30rd ((10)) 5.56 30rd mags comes back in stock.

Agreed with islandfocus. Grab the rifle and a few of the Beryl mags and enjoy until more Bulgarian mags come available again.

Buy it and then look out for deals here and locally. I picked up a gen 2 circle 10 a few weeks ago locally for $30. So.... Deals can be found.

Are the Circle 10 smoke mags crap or something? Seems like I remember them having some issues but maybe I'm making that up.

That said, I've got smoke 20's and 30's and they run fine in my Arsenal and Saiga.

I broke a loaded smoke mag by dropping it on a hardwood floor. It cracked near the feed lips dumping out rounds. I have a few of them. Strictly for range use. ProMag makes a 5.56 AK magazine that fits the SLR106. That's my only 5.56 AK it does fit. Also only for range use.

My SLR-106F with a ProMag. They made it to look like a Bulgy mag.

I say if you are going to spend the almost 1000 dollars to own one of these you stay patient and try to find the right deal. My patience was rewarded recently by finding a brand new m90np at my local gun show. That is what I recommend btw. Better built imo then the arsenal. And did I mention it takes AR mags?

The M90NP is better built than the Arsenal? In what way?

I know it has an rpk receiver and heavier barrel but how is it built better?

I said in my opinion it's built better, just the little things like the milled front post, gas block, and gas tube, and rear sight block and like you said bulged trunnion and heavy barrel which is CHF and chrome lined

All good points, my friend. I guess you just talked me into adding one of these to the 5.56 AK collection.

Thanks for twisting my arm.....that shit hurts.

I forgot about those 5.56 AK ProMag's. They look very close to the ((10)) 30rd magazines. I just bought a couple from Brownells today at $10.99 each. Cheap, but still usable in the range. I'm going to paint them PLUM when they arrive. Stay tuned!

The Bulgarian smoke/clear magazine have front and rear metal lugs. They lack the reinforcement plates on the sides. They can tend to crack but generally work OK..
There are two generations of the black waffles.
The one with the "spoon: slots for the stripper clip loader are the best mags IMHO.

The Pro Mag waffle 5.56 mags work fine for range mags. Leaving them loaded can lead to bulging and failures.

Money is what makes things happen in Bulgaria.

Somebody will import them before the, 'exclusive' importer starts importing them again.

Somebody gave me some Promags and they work alright.

The plastic may need a little tweaking to fit.

There is one plastic US magazine that drops in the Norinco 223 AK's that
can be modified for others.

I still see boxes of Bulgarian 223 magazines at gun shows.

If you want a SLR-106 just buy one. Mags can be found on a fairly regular basis. I see them between $40-50, but if they are imported again they will most likely cost that much anyways. Used to be able to find them under $40 before, but the Polish mags fill that void now and they are good quality.

Yes agreed it is heavier, which is why when I was choosing an optic mount I just went with an attero mount to keep the weight down

If you are a home builder there is an option to modify a M85NP pistol to a rifle with a 16 inch Bulgarian SLR barrel. Some mod work required but nothing extreme.
Pretty light and adding a bonesteel folder is easy.
Adding an optics rail is optional. I already had a fixed stock M85 with a optics rail so I left this one rail naked.

Mag cost savings and selling off the pulled parts can make it pretty economical.

My apologies. I was trying to show the "ProMag" marking at the bottom of the magazine. It didn't show up well at all.

I can't stand mag adapters... I get the reason why people have them installed but they make me cringe. I think they're ugly as sin and simply scream of trying too hard to make an AK into an M4.

I know some will bemoan my 'traditionalism' but if you saw my rifles, you'd know I'm anything but traditional.

^^^ They are just modifications to a design or firearm.
I have plenty of both kinds of AK's.Traditional and modified. All part of the enjoyment of building and/or modifying.
Some mods are visually aesthetic and some are functional.
The bonesteel folder or the drop free AR mag adaptor is pretty ergonomic and economic and allows dual magazine use etc.

Examples of both traditional and not..., but some are traditional in the design if not the caliber. I suppose an AK 47 or AKM in 7.62x39 is the "traditional" but there are many other calibers used on that format these days.

A mix AK's in 5.56 for example>>>

Promags almost make me "cringe"...
Meanwhile my M90P adapter does work....
My saiga came with promags made for a non bullet guide saiga..I wasted 1/4 can of spray paint tactically camoing the shit out of 2 mags only to have the built in plastic bullet guide literally snap of shooting in my backyard with less than like 50 rds...
It happened on like 2 or 3 of the mags...and one won't feed correctly.

Ended up adding the bullet guide and the tapco galil mags work..
Haven't had one issue out of them.
Meanwhile the 20rd bulgarian smoke mag I had to trim on a tad to fit in the gun jammed up on me the other day making me sick to my stomach almost.
Of all most mags.. The holy sacred "mil spec got demmit bad ass metal lined mags" ended up failing on me...
Maybe it was an ammo issue?
I dunno...but honestly made my yearning for more arsenal mags kinda muted.

Smoke mags ate only metal lined front and rear lugs. No side meta inserts.
The do work OK for me in a couple of 5.56 AK's.

Cannot speak to Pro Mags for the odd Saiga non feed ramp type.
Pro Mags have worked for me in a Chinese 5.56 and others. But durability and long term koading was an issue.
