Based on the current track record for AK domestic manufacturing companies:

Those that solely focused on AK's have all folded. (Rifle Dynamics being the one exception I can think of)
Those that have diversified portfolios (Century, Atlantic, PSA, heck even I.O.) have stayed around mainly because they have other products to offer to keep them in business.

So let us see if the AK Guy can break the trend, I wish him well.

And I have to LOL at people thinking the Files membership are the gate keepers of the industry. Like their blessing has to be given before anything can happen. The AK industry is way bigger than the files and most in it do not give a fuck what people here think.
The major majority of AK guys at the local ranges here (That I've met) have no clue who Robski is or what the "Files" is all about...

Good business would focus group something that big. At the very least. I suspect whoever's in charge here didn't do that choosing instead to rely on some sense of inflated self-importance.

"The AK-Guy"

Really?

Hell, I wouldn't buy another Vepr with "It's an AK!" on it.

I'll say it again. The AK world is much bigger than the Files or a few youtube channels. The idea that someone really isn't an AK guy if they don't know who Rob Ski is or they're not on the Files is borderline retarded.

Just owning a RAS47 or IO doesn't make you an AK guy because you own a pos AK. An AK guy is an AK guy out of passion and love for the AK. There is no way in 2018 with social media, YT and Internet forums that an AK guy doesn't know about AKOU or the Files. Unless they are old and not on the internet or live under a rock.

For an AK guy who would be doing research on different AKs, reviews of AKs, how to fix issues with AKs, AK stuff to buy, there is zero chance that they wouldn't come across AKOU or AKFiles from their Google and YT searching. This is 2018.

Now a gun owner who shoots their guns a few times a year, and owns a RAS47 or IO, that isn't an AK guy.

I don't think there is one guy in my gun club spends any time whatsoever on social media or this site

Our president might because she's female and runs a gun smith business with her husband

Social media and forums are not the Benchmark of hobby status

Merely an avenue discovered to learn, share, and socialize over common interests

I am an HK guy, but.....not on any HK forums

And those Hungarian AKs were totally fine until they made their own.

Waffen Werk's Bulgarian parts kits were totally fine until they made their own.

$640 shipped to your door for a quality AK74, now people pay $1200 just for scraps of a dead market.

See the trend here?

I've owned AK's since the late 90's when I became old enough to buy them. I haven't been without an AK this whole time. I've been on internet forums since the early 2000's and didn't watch a AKOU video until sometime after I joined the files earlier this year.

Somehow, some way, maybe it was a miracle from the Lord, but I've managed to own, service, build, shoot, train, and modify them for the last 20 years without the Files or Rob Ski. A whole shit ton of other people have too.

Concur. I own many HK handguns and have never had a membership on HKPro or any other HK forum. I typically stay away from brand specific forums because the signal to noise ratio is typically very low.

There are AK builders, buyers, historians, owners and shooters who have never heard of the AKFILES or Rob Ski.
Such is life.

Actually the traffic on AK sites has diminished greatly over the last few years.
Some are already dead or dying.
AK home building has also slowed greatly.

GlockTalk has been around since before many other forums were established.
I think I had registered for it 1997 or 1998 (under a different user name), back into now-infamous MallNinja, Sidearmor/Patricia, BillTheCat and WalterGA times.
Have not been there in a while, but on those day we did have talk a lot about non-Glock guns.

AKOU has over 145k followers on YouTube, over 81k on Facebook and 55k on Instagram - all these are very different audiences btw...

I pretty much couldn't stay hidden from public on any Army post I have visit so far...same goes for popular hunting stores like Bass Pro, Cabellas and etc. But it got really crazy recently, when people started to recognize me in my local village, when I'm walking out my dog... lol

That being said, yes, percentage of gun users participating online is very small...most gun users never heard about AKOU, files or even demo ranch...;-)

Rob, wanted to give a thumbs up for your store. I had ordered 2 Fighter breaks from you and they shipped the same day. Made shooting Draco so much more enjoable.

US assembly and Cerakote cost money.

If you want to deal with crooked sights, and shit finish, stick to your WASR’s.

Rob, I knew you'd made it big when I tried to go to the AKOU website once from a DoD internet connection and it was blocked, gave me the nice 'ACCESS DENIED' screen with the eagle and shield and everything like I was trying to go to a porn site or something.
That was over a year ago, might have been two years, now.

Everything you're doing, Rob Ski, keep doing it!

Why buy a factory made Romanian rifle when I can pay more and get parts put together by a guy on youtube!

Because the Bill of Rights in the US Constitution enables this right for all US citizens. (with minor exceptions)
A great process that our forefathers included in the founding of this nation.

You can even dress it up like a franken, sniper, tacticool, bubba or ????

Yes; Rob Ski is THE BEST...! And AKGuy's website shows the $899 guns are out of stock. The $999 ones with stained Russian furniture are still available.

I'll say it again. The AK world is much bigger than the Files or a few youtube channels. The idea that someone really isn't an AK guy if they don't know who Rob Ski is or they're not on the Files is borderline retarded.

In the internet age, any purchase made without researching on said internet in retarded.

If a potential user researchs AKs before purchase, the Files and or Rob Ski with come up.

Anyone who buys without research deserves everything they get.

Thatís whatís retarded.
