Default DSA SA58 OSW (Operations Specialist Weapon)

This thing is kinda hot. Not sure that is the pistol brace I would use myself, but it looks pretty good.

Looks good.

I don't see much background on the rifle tho for legit military applications or tryouts.
So that "Operator Specialist Weapon" moniker looks strictly for sales marketing.

I did see it was in the video game Battlefield Hardline.
First 90 rounds.....broke the extractor ?? He claims ALOT of rounds since then tho.....

For the asking price, I'd pay the extra $$ for the field proven SCAR17.

It has an arm brace.

How could you possibly think it had "military" or "police" applications?

I agree with you. I personally wouldn't get one but I still think it looks nice. It is an alternative in price to a SCAR 17s. But I agree, I would rather save up a little longer and just get the SCAR. But for those that already have several FALs and magazines, this isn't that bad of an option.

They're producing their own parts to make that abomination.

Each there own. But if someone wants a SBR FAL this is the way to go. I'd pay the $200 tax stamp and put a PARA stock on it. It's ok to modernize a classic rifle to fit your needs in the 21st century.

I personally like the appearance of the PARA folding stock. But if you would prefer something with LOP adjustments, guys do fit the ACR stock to a FAL.

I bought a an 11" barrel from DS Arms when they first started selling them.

I made a pistol with it.

The early barrels were 4140 steel and came with plastic hand guards.

The later maker of 4150 steel FAL barrels was under exclusive contract to make them for another company at the time.

The plastic hand guards on mine, melted.

$169 for the ACR adapter: https://lifeindustries.net/dir/produ...stock-adapter/
$150-170 for Bushmaster ACR stock

+ $200 SBR tax stamp

So around $2400 + tax stamp. You are close to the price of a SCAR 17 at that point. I personally wouldn't get a SA58 but could see someone already invested in FAL rifles and wanting a SBR going this route.

When I get some more $$$ I'll make a duplicate (sans full-auto capability) of the FAL I carried in Honduras.

That being said, it's a tribute to it's design that a 50 year old rifle can be updated like this. I will stick with my classic PARA.

Not the same function or purpose as a SBR setup. Like comparing a sniper rifle to a Glock 26. Different setups. Different purpose.

Have one a work ,shot it a few times, its reasonably accurate.
But what's it good for ? Chrono it and you have turned 7.62 Nato into 7.62x39,
in a heavier package.
Really like the Fal rifle ,but this is like the Socom M1A .Don't see a really valid reason except its possible to do .Unless you really enjoy blast and flash.

What you get out of a 11" barrel is a 150gr bullet at 2300 fps. Still putting out more energy than a 7.62x39 out of a 16" barrel.

What it is good for? For someone that wants to run suppressed and doesn't want a barrel + suppressor that is 22-23" long. For a smaller and lighter setup, a SBR 7.62x51 makes perfect sense. Still gives you better ballistics than a 16" 7.62x39.

Pistol gives you pistol brace while you wait for your $200 SBR tax stamp to come back.

If you don't want the pistol, you can go with the SBR folding stock version directly from DSA instead.

Buy it and put a rifle stock on it?

Or is that not kosher?

Can't remember if it's pistol to rifle or rifle to pistol....
