Default ATTENTION VITYAZ FANATICS, 9MM AK BARRELS AND BOLTS

Hey everyone im currently in the process of making 9mm barrels and bolts specifically for the vityaz ak platform. I would like to get a list started on who would be interested in purchasing from me once I'm done with everything. Pm me your name and phone so that I can get you on my list and get a rough idea on how much i should start with on my first batch. Thanks.

I'm asking for a list of people to see if it's worth my time to run a batch...not asking for money from you. I work as a cnc machinist and the guy that owns the place let's me use the machines on my own time if a machine isn't in use.

One thing you have to keep in mind is that anytime you ask a group of people if they want something is that only a fraction of them will follow through at the end and actually purchase the item they said they wanted.

If the OP produces quality parts, I suspect he won't have any trouble selling them.

Honestly, if you make them and they aren’t stupid expensive they’ll sell. Maybe just do a small run at first. You gotta keep in mind there are others with a more established presence here that are working on something similar, and due to people taking money and never delivering in the past some are skeptical of non-established members. Not saying that’s you; you aren’t asking for prepayment, but rather just gauging interest. I’d say go for it and just make 5 or so extra sets and go from there—you can always make more if they do well.

What are they going to be made out of?
What process is going to be used to produce?
Are you using barrel blanks? If so by who?
How much are they going to cost?

There's a lot of info that potential buyers would want to know before they truly become interested.
Any technical info that you can give would be great.

Edit: All being said, a 16" or 14.5" NAK-9 type rifle that takes Glock mags would be cool if done right.

What he said.

Do your homework, display what your intentions are and materials / harness, and then poll the crowd for interest.

Far too many US manufacturers are making playdoh steel commercial products.

I would make one set out of quality steel, and take some photos of your progress along the way. Show the finished product and a price shipped with payment options. I think if you make a quality product and do 10 or so at a time, collect the money and ship the Market Place feedback system should gage peoples interest.

I don't have the information on the steel grades used in Combloc factories.

however, if I were to design a product using Combloc weapons systems, I'd want to be sure it was the right grade.

Have to do the research on that one.

Someone needs to make a decent looking magwell adapter for the NAK9 that takes mp5 or Vityaz mags.

Not a bad idea, I'll try to create something based off my vityas kit...

4140 machined and heat treated would be your best bet.

Dpeneds on if you re trying to make a "true to spec" Vityaz, or just an adequate option like the NAK-9.

Personally I don't need an exact replica. Some will complain regardless. [They may be the ones that say they're interested and never buy anyway like Def90 said.] lol

If true to spec then you'll need to do your research like Aces said.
If not, then I think the Colt 6951 9mm spec barrel is a good place to start. 4150 CMV is more than sufficient for 9mm. Honestly, 4140 would work well, but you would lose the people who hold the pistol caliber barrels to rifle caliber standards.

So far as bolt material, "Cold hammer forged" is a nice feature to list on the specs. 8620 steel is what the Colt 9mm bolts are made from.
I would check out some well regarded 9mm carbines and see what their bolts are made from as a starting point.
Perhaps bounce some options off of a few filers here. There are a few token individuals that have a lot of metallurgical/mechanical knowledge and even more filers that have strong opinions. Sift through, and I think you'll benefit from spending time on here before you start your project.

I wish you luck and hope you figure it out.

Cheers

FYI if you choose to go this route, a long time, well connected, serious collector is just about to cross the the finish line on this project with what looks like a perfect copy. This will be the most impressive reproduction part I've seen in almost 20 years of collecting.

A NAK9 with the right magwell conversion could be a dead ringer, IMO.

Hey, FNG, maybe just turn a few custom barrels first. Deliver. And get your rep up.

Then we'll talk names and numbers.

I'll take mine in Chinese 19mm chamber journal size.

Alright barrels will be made from 4140 greenmountain blanks. Going to make a small batch of 5 and if they turn out great I will make a larger batch depending on the demand for more.

and pics.... gotta have that marketing aspect or everyone will assume you are a nigerian prince....

i think a new mag needs to be designed... and that will be a metal glock or beretta style with a curve to it...mainly for aesthetics but thats pretty imprtant...

Are you insane? You will be crucified here unless you use 4150, chrome over nitride, then parkerized and ceracoated barrels. LOL! I am just kidding.

But seriously though. Best of luck with your product launch!
