Talking AES-10B - $699 Gun Shop Steal!

I stole a brand new AES-10B with a push button Romy folder and a wing nut style bipod.

Was listed for $699 and still had cosmoline on her rails!

A guy came in five minutes after me and was pissed when he figured out that I made the purchase.

He even tried buying the stock off of me like I was some FNG with no brain.

...told me he was from the AKFiles and tried to act like he was a bad ass.

EDIT #2 (photbucket apparently is old school/doesn't work anymore?):

EDIT:

Was this your wet dream last night or did this really happen??

If you got it for $699, you should lay low for a while because you, indeed stole it.

You caught me...lying to people on the internet so I can act cool.

I was as shocked as you were...went in to pick up a pistol lower for my Colt M4 Commando upper and stole her.

A lot of the gun stores in my AO have zero knowledge about AK Variants.

I'll snap some and upload them.

Going to put a Romanian bakelite and Romanian sling on her first.

Smoking deal! Numbers matching or major numbers matching? We need to see photographs, my friend! I recently purchased a bipod less AES-10B for $750. I lucked out and I found the correct bipod two weeks ago in the marketplace for $120.

Photographs added!

Numbers are matching on this girl!

The price on these has went through the roof.

Yes indeed,

I just bought a folder like yours on GB for $1,300 and was happy to get one at any price. It helped though that i sold my fixed stock AES for $1,250, so really wasn't out much coin.

Even when the AES-10B folders were coming in, they were still selling for $900+. They were never as common or cheap as the fixed stocker.
Nice thing is that all I've seen were serial matching and came with the adjustable bipod and carry handle. Also they shipped with 2 - 40 rd Romie steel mags, which was nice.

Mine is in one of our recent videos.
Is yours a 1989 trunnion date as well?

I recommend getting a repro AIMR flash hider from JMAC. I got one for mine and it really sets the gun apart. It also fits perfectly without wiggle and lines right up with the detent.

I've either handled or had 100 or so of the AES folders through the store. All of them had the same year of 1989. It seems that if not all were made then, the majority were at least.

That would be a stunning picture...100 AES-10B's all lined up.

haah well never had them all at the same time.
But probably did have a dozen or so at once.

All the paratroopers were nice. Just put together well, parts all in good shape, serials matching, tight stocks. About the only issue I can recall was that a good number had rattly bipods, which is a fixible issue.
It was pretty obvious they were assembled by Cugir from a single, complete PM-64 rather than pieced together from parts from several guns.

Thanks for the kind words.

I have been waiting patiently for Childer's to come out with Romanian RPK blanks...have a few kits stashed away.

Childers doesnt seem in a hurry to get outside of the 1.0mm receiver. There's nothing wrong with a good old Nodak NDS7, and you can add your own Romie selector markings pretty easily too. My Russian RPK is on an NDS, and honestly it has a smoother action than my Childers AKM.

Nice grab. Have had a couple, but neither have matching numbers. Would love to stumble onto that deal you just did.

The AES-10B is one of the neatest and most unique AK imports. There are several rifles people call RPKS, but most really aren't. The AES though is the real deal.

I have one and it also is dated from 1989 with all matching numbers. These are keepers for sure.

Got to take her out and warm her up.

I did have a repro AIMR flash hider from JMAC on mine, but then ran into an original Romie flash hider, so couldn't resist and picked it up.
So now my AES-10B is sporting a true device. However, comparing this original up against the JMAC, JMAC did a fantastic job replicating the original.

Quick question, do you guys have an Arsenal stamp on the trunnion? The one I have my eyes on doesn't. Still a beauty though!

Three of my four AES-10B's have the arsenal stamp on the trunnion. My rifles are dated 1977, 1978, 1979, + 1984. The 1984 dated rifle does not have the arsenal stamp on the trunnion.

My fixed stock model has the stamp. The folder doesn't. I was wondering if all folders are this way. 4 AES-10B'S???!!!! AWESOME!!!

Man those AES10b's are some sweet rifles!

I wish I would have picked one up back 2011 when they were plentiful and for only $499...I'm still kicking myself in the ass!

Can the stocks on this model be replaced with a folding clubfoot RPK stock?

Well if you're going to fire-up the time machine you might as well go back just a few more years.

In 2007 the AES-10B rifles were as low as $350 if my memory is accurate.

The cheapest I saw the AES10B was $425, at least on a normal sale.

But Century did put some blem models on a few 'Odd Lots' lists for $350-$375 yes. These usually had some scratches, some stock damage, or were missing a minor part like the carry handle. Also, they just came with 1 mag and no accessories.

My first came with 2 40 rounders, sling, RPK mag pouch, and cleaning kit.
Back in the day, CAI sent some neat swag with their rifles.

As to the stocks, yes the fixed clubfoot and the RPK wire folder are interchangeable.
Please note that the RPK folder is a little different from the standard PA86/PM90 folding stock. For one the trunnion henge block is scaled to fit inside the 1.5mm receiver. That and it is a little heavier, little beefier than normal. Gotta build 'em tougher for those LMGs afterall hehe.
