Default Suppressed Tiger with custom FSB

After 18 months of various ups and downs waiting on my PBS-1 Wolverine, I have now been able to suppress my Tiger. This is a project I've been after for a long time but hampered because SVDs are expensive and I didn't want to permanently modify a rare collectors rifle. Some guys have had custom barrels made and some others have moved the FSB back and had the existing barrel threaded for a suppressor but I tried a different direction and had a custom AK74 style FSB made by a really good machinist. I have to say his work turned out fantastic and I couldn't be happier with it. BR762 did the FSB fitting and mounting to my Tiger

I have not been able to test POI shift suppressed or unsuppressed yet, frankly I have been having too much fun blasting away to be scientific just yet. So far the ejection distance of spent brass appears to be the same but I'll have more detailed info in the next few weeks when I get down and systematically bench the rifle

The big write up is in progress but here are a few photos til that's done.

At 300 yards with PN22K day/night gen 3 optic

Custom 24x1.5 FSB based on an AK74 but designed for the NDM86 barrel. Top is the modern SVD flash hider, bottom is the SVDS flash hider

My particular barrel tapered slightly at the muzzle and two small 3.5mm pins were added to help stabilize the front collar area

Interesting way to tackle that problem, kinda wondering why it hasn't been thought of before. I wonder how hard it was to get the threads concentric to the bore.

Very nice. Glad you finally got to test it out.

How does it sound?

Very cool! I just had a similar project completed and will post photos when the FSB arrives in the mail.

This is what I thought also...how hard could it be to get an FSB made so that a suppressor like the Wolverine is screw on simple. I went with the Wolverine to hedge the bet against the threads but since the machinist and I worked closely together on it he was acutely aware of how important concentricity is

After doing the rod test and seeing how perfect the wolverine fits I'm relaxed enough to try a different 30 cal can after the stamps come back

Good deal, love to see the photos and how it ends up

It's not hearing safe and is definitely louder to the shooter than someone else next to the rifle but the sound is not bad at all.

To the shooter, the characteristic 'wump' of the SVD is gone and is replaced by a loud super sonic crack, louder than other suppressed rifles I shoot (I swear it's making the rounds go super super sonic haha).

Since I'm dialing the PN22K in as a hunting setup I've only shot S&B 180gr SP through it so far but will see if the cheaper Wolf 54R is quieter. As I said brass ejection seems to far consistent and no feeding or cycling issues

It's filthy dirty though. I've put 600 rounds through the NDM in a day and it wasn't as dirty as a hundred rounds suppressed on the Tiger

Here is the flash hider I just had made. It will go on my NDM-86 .308 build

https://ibb.co/fLEZnx
https://ibb.co/kbedEc

Richard Parker of Parker Arms and Tool Works made it from a Tigr muzzle device, SVD FSB hood, and one of these flash hiders https://www.gunbroker.com/item/753810547

Threaded in 5/8x24.

Now that's pretty clever, I like the way that came out. An elegant solution indeed and looks great

Is Parker still doing SVDS conversions? I have waffled on it for years now but recently it popped into my mind again

To my knowledge he is indeed still doing the conversions. Only thing I’m not 100% on is he mentioned his welder (who was really good) has eye issues and more or less on the verge of retiring.. Not sure how that will end up affecting things.

Ok good to know thanks

What suppressors are you using on the NDMs? I've got a few more 30 cal cans on the way but still have a few months I think

I’ve got a Saker 7.62 in form 4 jail at the moment. I love user serviceable cans and the modularity means I can put a 5.56 end cap on it and use it on my AR as well.

The rifle it’s going on is a .308 NDM that I have been collecting parts for over a period of about 7 years. Started when I got a totally stripped .308 receiver a while back. It is a match grade barrel and a crazy mix of Russian, US and Chinese parts (modified the bolt with a Tigr pin and spring, etc.). When it’s finally done I’ll post photos.
