This one reminded me that my vicious killer pit bull had it's own cat.
A black and white staffie with a black and white cat that was his constant companion until he died.
They would groom one another. The dog would hold the cat down until he thought the job was done.
There wasn't a mean bone in that dogs body.

That cat has had that dog punked from day one, she was a feral kitten from outside a country gas station in the middle of nowhere when she was found, just a two month old little shitrat. If Zoey wanted she could and does sneak a clean job in every now and again, she tried nursing her when she was small but the cat wanted none of it, she has domesticated some but she is still feral in many respects and not much of a lap cat, when she wants attention she gets it, when she doesn't you fuck off.

Though I do like messing with them to keep them on their toes, sometimes I will hold her and let the dogs come clean the kitty. It's always who can get to the yummy kitty butthole first, then it's the face.

Arguably the angriest female cat I have ever had, she has the best fuck you face.

concur.

Cats being what they are take a special kind of compassion, and when receive it respond much more deeply than people realize.

Just had another little face show up at the house not too long ago, same story, half starved & likely abandoned.

I won't post my genuine deepest thoughts regarding those kind of people.

Two of my three cats snore.

Here is a stray that figured out when my boys are outside there is food.

I call him Mr. Socks

Here's a "CAT STORY" .......kind of.....
Back in the day , Mrs. Madman's Mom had a Cat that was a true Terror..
I think he lived to draw BLOOD & fight & he must've been pretty tough because he never got clawed, chewed, or hair ripped out ,nothing , but you knew when he was terrorizing his Turf from the sounds of Hellacious fights & next thing he'd come stalking out of the field or brush , big bad BlackCat, Cheffy........

He would kind of sidle up to you ,want to "play" & if you fell for it he'd flip the switch & turn into SMILODON FATALIS ........

ANYWAY.....
they put a couple dishes out on the deck 1water 1dry food ,usually how they got him to come in ......

One cold winter night her stepDad goes out to have a smoke on the deck he didn't turn the light on because the light from inside, shining out thru the double glass sliding doors was plenty so he steps out, lights up , leans on the rail & starts talkin' to "Cheffy" who was head down in his food bowl chowin' down ...

Smoke finished , he says , "You coming in Cheffy?"
Now , looking down at "Cheffy" he realizes he's been talking to a BIG SKUNK!
Needless to say that was IT for food dishes on the deck.......Cheffy came home later that nite......

I have both, cats and dogs. It takes a real man to have a cat, and name it poofer.

Wife's brother got his kids a chocolate lab that hated my guts. Sob always hated me. Never had a problem with any dogs but that one.

He was a hit at picnics, BBQs,holidays , I want to tell you,
the Folks who knew Cheffy would lay back & wait to see
what he was going to do TO the Folks who didn't know him...
Usually it started with :

Plenty in shelters every day that need homes, even more so in rural areas. It's part of the cycle but so few are capable of making that commitment.

It's amazing how good a call that can be, isn't it?

Doc thinks it was a congenital heart defect that manifested into a stroke later on. He was basically dead after he howled.

Found my 12 year old dog, then 5 at the valentines day shelter special not shortly after. I went through 7 or 8 dogs before I found him. Nobody else had looked at him because he just sat quietly in his cage all the time. That was the cue sign of a ready to listen and ready to home mutt.

I am gonna be heaping crying mess the day he goes but I am glad I didn't give up when I did, I thought I had fucked up and the dog was dead because of something I did, I couldn't sleep for about a week after that, then I got the autopsy results and felt a little better, then sometimes god gives you a sign, and seeing that flyer was my sign.
