Default Surplus croatian mags

Just impulse bought some mags without doing any homework on them. Anybody have experience with these? Decent mag or should I expect turds?

I bought these around Christmas. I no longer own them. That's all I've got to say.

The Croats are ok BUT the Yugos are much better. I agree with Lord AK-47 get the Yugos now since they are cheap.

Mine all work great out of import rifles.

What rifles are you going to be using?

I bought some, regretted it, and sent them back after horrible fit. I went with more P-mags instead.

The price is too good to pass up if you need ak mags. A dremel or a file is all you need to "fix" these if they are too tight for your ak.

If I hadn't already purchased close to 150 assorted mags over the last 6 weeks I would be all over a case or 2 of these at this price. Hell still thinking about picking them up to just turn around and be able to flip all day at $8 to $10 a pop. If I knew my wife wouldn't jump all over me for them that is, today when Vortex Optics drop shipped a couple of scopes to my door she told me I am going overboard.

well worth it for $5.xx each shipped. not the easiest to use out of the box, but the quality is perfectly acceptable.

I have some of those. I only modified one and it only took a few minutes with a file. It worked flawlessly once it fit in my SAR-1. They seem like very solid magazines to me. And yes I bought a bunch of the used yugo magazines to and they are a good deal also. Don't sweat it they are still good magazines at a good price.

Any of you get to enjoy the days of the dirt cheap Sportsman Warehouse deal on AK mags around 2005-2007?

I didn't get into AKs until shortly after those deals but I guess they were doing assorted European AK surplus mags at like $4 to $5 a pop and this was when the first Bosnian mags started to pop up in the US.

My horror story of trading a MD Arms Saiga 12 drum towards some of these surplus mags and turning right around and selling them at roughly $10 a pop since I didn't need ak mags was back around 08/09. I stupidly posted up pics of the mags on another board, and the guy had traded me some of the rare Bosnian mags including a boy scout (fleur de les) at like $7/$8 a mag and my for sale thread lit up like the 4th of July. I came out ahead on the trade but lost my ass on their true value since I followed through and sold them at my asking price.

I posted up in another thread not to long ago. I bought probably 6 total from 2 different vendors around mid summer last year and had nothing but issues with them. I gave them away to a friend, they worked much better in his rifle and took it as a loss.

Save your money and buy the yugos if you must have the BHO or buy the polish surplus (non BHO).

Bought 20, all worked great with no malfunctions. Worked great out of the box in my Saigas and FM Vepr. No filing needed.

I was lucky enough to get some as a gift from a good friend here on the Files. Don't know if he wants to be identified.
Haven't had a chance to fit them yet.
I want to fit them for my milled build.
Again, thanks my friend.
They sure look nice.

They're new in bag magazines and I couldn't even find any blemishes on mine. Needed some minor filing to fit in my WASR. If you're too afraid to use a file well not sure what to tell you. Send them back.

Guys every try the drop test with these? Load a mag full up, hold it at shoulder height and drop it to the floor, tell me what happens.

I bought 3 cases of these the last time they were for sale. I've sold about half of them so far. They literally take 30 seconds with a dremel to get them to fit. I took the one gun that they didn't fit and filed all of them to fit it. I haven't had a single complaint out of all them that I've sold.

It bounced a couple inches off the ground. All still intact. What was it supposed to do?

I had a case, loaded up a few and did some drop tests, they exploded the rounds out because the floor plates weren't in spec to the flanges.... Soft metal used on the floor plates and mag bodies as well. That ruined these for me. I sold them off. Good to hear this is not a common issue but I'll just stick to my ((10))'s

Will not feed in my WASR, which is a 2015. Lock up tight though, after a bit of filing.

noticed this on some of mine, the floorplates were popped off inside of the sealed bags. crimping down the edges seems to help

you'll be fine, worst case scenario you have to file on them a minute or two each.
