Default Kit

An expensive one! Arms of America has Romanian model 63 & 65 for sale, currently, at $269.

These are the reasons that I ask:

The front sight has a square cutaway like egyptian or russian aks.

the rear sight block "swoop" doesn't look romanian

The machining seems very nice for a romanian

The trunnion almost looks scrubbed. There's no symbol and a different font. Can anyone at least explain the trunnion writing?

Is it a late Romanian kit?

Its a Romanian PM md90 (domestic version). Its the same as the md63 except it has a wire folder stock instead of the fixed stock. The trunnion marking script is what they switched to when they adopted this model to replace the md63.

Ok. So after a certain point you can't indentify a romy by its distinct, milled front sight blocks. But they had milled FSB on the Sars later, so they continued both.

Edit: distinct in the way that the cutout part looks like.

What are the years of Romy's that look good like this one? All 90's?

This is the 7.62x39 version of the md.86(5.45x39), obviously without the break. They still wanted a 7.62x39 rifle but wanted it to be consistent with the md.86. All they really did was put a wire folder on an md.63 and gave it a new model designation. there is nothing unique about it.
