Just ordered 1200 to split amongst a few of us. I'll try it in my C308 and Alexandria AR10 before buying a few more cans.

That's the kind of thing I wanted to hear, a direct comparison between the two (Malaysian and Hirt). Okay, I am definitely convinced. If there's any Malay still available I'm going to get some. P.S. Sorry to be such a schmuck, but it comes naturally to me.

@pickleweedpete: I got just 1 case back in April, so I paid $479 for that one. Was that a 3 case discount if I may ask?

I haven't tried a bunch of other ammo for my STG58, but I'm definitely gonna try that Malaysian stuff the next time I'm in the market. Seems like there's enough of a report on it to at least give it a try.

I'd frankly like to see some more field statistics on Hirt. Guess I could stop bitching and contribute some data myself.

Was that from SG Ammo? They dropped their price on Hirt to $459.00 per case for a while (getting old sucks -- damned if I can remember now if that was before or after April) and that was when I bought mine. Then it went back to $479. The Malaysian stuff sounds all right, though, and I doubt very much if Hirt will EVER go that low ever again.

Has anyone got the 900 round case with (3) 30 cal cans? What condition are the cans in?

Mine from SGA, the "crate" was in poor shape, the cans have minor rust, and are very hard to open. More from the rubber gasket than any rust. The ammo is nicely boxed and no signs of water or damage. Anyone know why the 20 round boxes have pink ribbons tied around them? Am triggered.

.37cpr is a really good price for any .308, but especially brass .308!!! (Even if it is Berdan primed)

I don't really need any more .308, as I bought the crap out of the ZQI when Wall of Chinamart was closing it out. But if I was low on .308, I'd buy this stuff in a heart beat!

I've got five thousand rounds, but two of those are steel cased. Now I'm certain the Malaysian stuff is just fine in all respects (and 37 cents a round looks so good) but I intend to put most of my ammo in long term storage for my friends and heirs and what i really want is a couple more cases of HIRT from SG ammo. That's clean as a whistle, with no rusty cans or other red flags. And I don't care either if it's Berdan primed -- who will have time to reload when the stuff hits the fan?

Picked up 4 cans as well, I've been stocked fairly well on ZQI but idk how much more I could afford to have shot up. I'll see how this runs from a M77

Mine loved it, Boone. With the scope I was doing about 3" groups at the 200 yard range at Big Piney. Not great, but it's got a poor Tapco trigger. The stock trigger was even worse.

We wanted to shoot the 600yard range, but some other guys had it reserved all day, so we spanked the gong at the top of the hill at 200 with iron sights, after I discovered that recoil was knocking the scope mount loose. Good times. That Maylaysian .308 runs good, and those brand new CSSPEC magazines performed flawlessly.

I did have to tweak them a bit. In my rifle, they needed to be squeezed gently fore & aft at the very top to fit into the mag opening in the receiver, plus the feed lips dragged on the bolt carrier, so I gently filed a bit off the edges of them, and I did have to slightly file the very back corners of the receiver opening as it was rounded, and the magazines are quite square. Easy peasy. Now I know why this is called the AK files...

Haha good to know it runs well. 3" at 200 is pretty good to me. I really think the rifle shines as far as accuracy once you get out farther. My csspec mags just need some off the rear locking lug but I have one that locks in and gets stuck so I'll have to figure that out when I got time

I've been wanting some of this, but just haven't had the money to drop. This might let me get a couple of cans or so on the 4-pay. Wonder if this is as clean as some of the stuff I've seen from other buyers? Some was dirty, some was nice and clean.

***I see Sportsmans Guide is now charging me sales tax......damn. That made a great deal a good deal. I'll still consider it, though I have plenty of Hirt stashed away.

No email saying the order has been shipped yet... .at $114 it is 38/round now but beats the sportsman guide cuz I'd have to pay sales tax...

Got my can from Sportsman Guide yesterday. It took a screwdriver to pry the can open it was so tight. With a slight "pop" and the sound of rushing air I finally opened it. The ammo was perfectly packaged in small boxes and the rubber seal was in perfect condition. The ammo was all dated Nov. 1979. The air inside and the ammo smelled like the 70s as well (had that vintage odor - kind of cool for those growing up in that decade). Nice ammo and in great shape. Would love to get some more from either SGuide or Aim. Now a trip to the range is needed to shoot my new C308.

I got the air rush too, my headstamp is 1-86 on the one case I opened. I assume that's January 1986 so just a hair over 21 years old. Idk what the 70's smelled like but according to my ammo can the 80's smell like hidden valley ranch dip powder
