Optical illusion due to orientation of the rifle.

It is 5.45. I've never seen a 74 brake made for 7.62 on a Romanian factory gun. Bulgarians made them, some are US made, but that's about all I've ever seen for 74 style brakes in 7.62

Same thing we've been telling everyone else for 30+ years?

The AIMS-74 ain't changed in decades as Romania's issue rifle.

What unit are you working with or did you just run into them? Or is it OPSEC?

Wonder if you could say hi to some of my old buddies

Looks to me like
Romanian rifle which can be identified by the position of the bayonet lug directly beneath the front sight, rather than on an extension behind it as seen on Russian weapons, along with the earlier AKM style gas block.

Yeah, those "Romanian rifles" share the common bayo lug location found on most all AK74 variants.

Actually, the newby is right. Russian and Bulgarian '74 FSBs have a longer collar and the bayonet lug is about 3/8" behind the rear leg of the sight.

On the aims-74 FSB the collar is shorter and the bayonet lug is directly under the rear leg of the sight.

The devil is in the details.

For reference the top is a Tantal, the middle is a SLR-104FR, and the bottom is a Pa md. 86 (aims-74) notice all the sights are different, all the bayonet lugs are positioned differently, and the muzzle devices are different lengths to make up for it.

Urgh...

I've been debating over adding a Sar2 for the past month, this only complicates decision making...

Do the Romanian guns suffer bullet shearing with the 45 degree gas port? Isn’t that why the Soviet’s went to 90 degree versions?

Duct tape on the upper HG. Guess he wants to keep it pristine for future sale in the MP.
