I have a few AK-74 kits to build and would like to see what all is out there. Post pictures of your rifles. It doesn’t matter whether they were built from a kit or factory built. Also, please provide a good description for the ignorant among us.

I've been too busy lately to make much progress. Here's some fuzzy pics of builds in progress. All of them are up and running great but I haven't gotten around to putting finish on any of them yet.
The rifle on the top in both pictures is built on a Global 1.6mm with KVAR NATO length plastic plum and a 3.5 scope. It's my favorite build of all time, even though it still doesn't have gunkote on it. It has about 3500 rounds through it and has popped a couple coyotes last winter at 125 and 175 yards. That is my favorite rifle configuration of any type, not just AK. The milled build is on a FiringLine receiver with unfinished IronWood laminate. The wood furniture is my first '74 build from around 5 years ago. I bought that kit on the presale of the first batch of '74 kits imported. It's on a bentblank receiver but I have a 1.0mm global that the parts will be swapped over to someday. ![]()

Here's one with an underfolding stock from a Russian milled kit installed.
Note the droop of the stock vs the straight back style of the Polish, Bulgarian, etc. Polish laminate front wood on a Vulcan receiver.

Damn good job tomovich!
Your two Romanian rifles look like they just came from a Romanian Army arms room! Since both are indentical copies of the original, here is what they are, The top one is known as the Model-1986 (AKS-74) 5.45mm. And is standard issue to the Romanian Armed Forces. (I have NOT seen the fixed-stock verison fielded.) The bottom model is known as the Model-1963 (AKM) it is now used in the reserve and cadet training. And has been widely export! Angola Georgia (Republic) Afghanistan Lebanon Iraq Libya Mozambique & Nicaragua |

Here is my Bulgy AK74 that I just finished.....just needs to be painted after some test rounds. Its biult on a Global Trades reciever which I highly recommend. I really like the look of the wood and plan to leave the finish as is.

Here is my collection which includes two Ak74 types. The two 7.62X39 Krebs KTRs are being sold or traded for Yugo underfolders (3 for the KTR03S or 4 yugos for the 03V).

Built with a CFS kit on a homemade receiver (Tapco Flat) Welded together using a Romy Laminated stock/tang. Used to using ready to assemble receivers so this build had a learning curve. in the end it worked out good - sweet shooter - finish on all metal parts is Manganese parkerizing.
