Can someone please help. I have tried all I know to upload pictures and its not working and I'm getting very frustrated. I'm not very tech savvy so if it could be explained simply I would really appreciate it.

Regards,

Grunt

I bought this today and took a picture. I download it to my computer. I right clicked the picture and hit copy and then pasted it to my desktop and then right clicked the pic and renamed it. This is my pixel reduction copy. I right click on this picture and see the size under properties. It says 184 kb. It needs to be 97.7 kb or less to use this forums "managing attatchments " This is found under the "go advanced" post setting and then under the paper clip at top. I then open the saved pic on my desktop using "paint" under open with. I change the setting from percentage to pixel. Notice how mypic was 184 and needs to be 97.7 or less. So 50% pixel reduction should do it. it says 1024 horizontal and I change that to 500 and the vertical changes automatically. I now close this and save it when asked because this is my experimental desktop copy. I now right click properties on the resized pic and it says 83.3 kb and I should be good to post .
I was looking for AK bayos and a guy had this with the US scabbard.

The forum's attachment system only provides a temporary spot, as each members is given a small "data bucket" to store attachments in. When you exceed the "data bucket" limit, guess what? You'll have to delete an older image to make room for the new one.

This is really not a good way to host images.

A better way is to find an image host with a user-friendly policy to host the image with and embed the photo here ( and on 99% of all the other forums ) with IMG tags.

I have not found "an image host with a user-friendly policy" What is "embed the photo here ( and on 99% of all the other forums ) with IMG tags" Is this different from posting photos here using an image host. How do you do that? Sometimes the hosting is a pain. Thanks for the tip.

This thread exists to instruct folks in doing what you've just asked.

Maybe start at the beginning and read it?

There is also the "Image Test Thread" where folks have asked questions and received answers on image manipulation on discussion boards.

Are you checking the "show inline" box when you attach it?

If not, you can always use IMG tags around the attachment URL

Code:
[img]http://www.akfiles.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=16392&d=1417152360[/img]

It's always better to use an image host, IMHO. The attachment system here is of a very limited size per user, which means that if you use it a lot, your older images will always be disappearing from older threads.

nails, how do you post with IMG tags, without the tags being visible on each side of the image?

Don't use superfluous IMG tags?

Example 1 - the correct usage:

Code:
[img]http://imgdump1.novarata.net/image.php?dt=NG5Y[/img]

Example 2- too many sets of IMG tags:
[img][/img]

Code:
[img][img]http://imgdump1.novarata.net/image.php?dt=NG5Y[/img][/img]

What is the syntax for image resizing. I don't understand how to do it even from examples listed. I've looked up BBC resizing online and none of those syntax types work here.

You should use an image host that offers clickable thumbnails, and post the clickable thumbnail here

or

you should use an image host that resizes on upload ( try to keep it under 800px wide for best results )

No.

This website just doesn't have the storage capacity, text doesn't take up much room at all. I use photobucket, free, no hassles so far other than emails from them wanting me to buy prints of images I've uploaded.

http://s620.photobucket.com/ Easiest place : Make account then just use the upload link and go to your documents or MY PICTURES or where ever you store your photos .
Once they are in Photobucket the links are right there to post in forum. Simple deal http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/t...sights/006.jpg

If your image is over 800 pixels wide, you should use clickable thumbnails for best results.

I've been using Photobucket for years with no issues but in the last few weeks something changed and it totally bogs down my computer and I need to do a reboot. No other website has this effect on my computer.

Are there any good alternatives to Photobucket that do not require resizing pics first?

New guy here on this site. I am on other gun forums and I loaded my profile picture with no problem. However on here it keeps saying my profile picture is too large and must be resized yo 100x100. How do I do that? Sorry if this has been asked before but did not see it.

You use an image or graphics program ( like Microsoft Paint [ but better ] ) to fold, spindle or mutilate your image to the proper shape and size.

That is because photobucket is trying to load popup adverts on your PC every time you click on one of your pics, library, whatever, photobucket starts trying to load pure spam first.

As previously stated, why not just make it as easy as possible??? Just paste pics from computer.
Maybe somebody's getting a kick back from the web hosting sites...

As has already been explained, the board owner is not paying for hosting your photographs.

The data storage allotment provided for each member here is very, very small, and you end up deleting previously stored images to make room for new ones ( ruining whatever thread those previous images were in )
