Default What should ask for a colt 1911 series 70 commander

Hi, I'm just wondering how much a colt commander would go for in today's market. It appears to be stainless steel, there are a few scratches on the top of the slide and some dings on the magazine it came with. The gun is completely 100% stock so. With all that said how much should I ask for it? (this is not a sale just a question.)

I would ask a thousand and work down from there. Pics would help a lot in determining what you have and it's condition.

Going to need some pictures. A scratched Stainless Commander $650 to $750 without seeing it.

When you're selling ask top dollar. You will be haggled down. If you want $800 for a gun, ask $950-1000. That's what I've learned I have to do. Nobody ever wants to pay you what you ask. If it was worth 50,000 and you had it for sale for 1,500 nobody would pay you more than 1,250 for it since you asked 1,500... even though they all know it's worth 50,000.

Since its a commander there is no real advantage to it being a series 70 and you aren't sure whether it is stainless or nickel plated its just a used firearm.

Regardless, if it is like new with the box you have a pistol you can actually get about $600 for.

I amended mine. $650 or a little more is realistic if the scratches are minor. I think the nickel plated would have a satin finish. If it is Stainless the slide will have bright sides.

If you price it to move initially you'll get a lot less haggling and more serious buyers. Pricing used stuff at ridiculous prices keeps a lot of people away simply because they think you're an idiot and/or don't want to waste their time haggling.
