Default 1969 Remington 870 Wingmaster riot gun.

I got a Mossberg 18.5" 870 barrel, and a Remington +2 extension today and turned by 28" barreled Wingmaster into an old school riot gun.I think it looks cool as hell. I've been meaning to do this for a few years now.

I think I may reblue the receiver and magazine tube so that the whole thing matches.

There's nothing like a Wingmaster. Next week I'm taking delivery of a 1979 Wingmaster that I'm going to use to recreate a USMC Mark I. The venerable Mark I was my constant companion for nearly a year spent in the Central American jungles in the early eighties. I'm here today because of a Wingmaster Mark I. Recreating the front assembly with the bayonet lug has proven to be a challenge for my fabrication skills, but if anything, I'm persistant

Has the extension come loose when you cycle the gun without the clamp or is it staying put?

I had to have a ball detent installed so I could run my WM without a barrel clamp.

The Mossberg barrel has the ball detent already. One thing I did have to do, is unscrew the extension tube, from the nut a little bit, because when it was screwed in as far as it could go, I couldn't screw the nut down far enough to hold the barrel tight. I think I'll put some red loctite on the extension piece after I turn the nut down down far enough to hold the barrel tight.

Looks good 89! I have an older Winchester 1200 Defender that fits this role.

What the fuck are you using as a monitor Nails? A 4:3 13.8" viewable set to 800x600?

The pics I linked to are only 1200x675. They didn't even cover the whole screen of my 27" set to 1920x1080.

To reiterate ( for the umpteenth time ), it's not "my" equipment being used for measuring things ( I have a 5040x1050 setup here )

It's based on the average screen size used by visitors.

Yes, other forums autosize images. This one doesn't.

OK then, how damn small does it have to be? My definition of a huge image is when I have to scroll to the right to see the whole thing. My images are always smaller than my screen.

If 1200x675 is considered "HUGE", then what is considered "just right"

800px wide or less is the rule of thumb ( again, this has been posted here for years when this subject comes up )

I know you're probably not going to, but the "Posting images on this site" thread down in the Tech Support area has all this stuff, and suggestions on posting pictures in a way that allows folks to see them but doesn't blow out the board's formatting.

Ah, reading - FUCK THAT SHIT, right?

P.S. Perhaps you aren't aware your photo host offers "clickable thumbnails" or "clickable mid-sized images".

I went in a different direction. I was going to reblue the receiver and mag tube to match the new pieces, but instead I tried to age the new pieces to better match the old gun. I didn't want to go too far, and look fake, so I kept it minimal.

Okie, here she is. Sold in Sears catalogues under the JC Higgins brand, I believe it was made between 1946-47.
It's a Stevens 520A cut down from 28" to 20" with a stainless steel bead sight.
5 rds of 2 3/4 fit the tube, no trigger disconnect so you can slam fire if you wish

I had the bayonet block with dovetail sight, couldn't find a 60's 870 shotgun.
