Looks to be in good condition.

I'd put some nice wood in it thread the muzzel and call it a day.
Maybe convert the bullet guide if you want normal mags.

Dibs on the gas tube if you sell it off for a standard one .

It already has the bullet guide conversion on it.

Going to do an AK74 front sight post with muzzle break.

Contemplating having someone weld the extra holes close + sanding the importer info off the receiver and doing a new finish on it.

You done good.

Weld up the holes, scrub the receiver, convert the front end and call it quits.

If you're feeling froggy, convert it to a 5.5mm folder for the full AK-74M experience.

That looks really good. That route is probably towards the top of my list. I already have a spare SLR104 stock in a box, but if I do the conversion I will probably go the 5.5mm trunion route to make it more authentic. If I'm going to do it, I might as well do it the right way.

Ken Kubin (Global Military Gunsmithing) is somewhat local to me. I'll have to see if the rear trunion conversion is something that he does (anyone know?) as I would prefer doing that than shipping off to Two Rivers.

Yeah welding up the holes, sanding off the importer info and converting the front + doing a new finish or cerakote is probably the easiest route to just get it done with. But thinking I should maybe do this one right so that I never get the itch to want to mess with it again in the future.

Do I also need to get a new trigger guard assembly, or can the stock one be modified to look authentic?

I have been in contact with Tim at Two Rivers on a 5.5mm Trunion conversion for my SGL-31 price is $265 plus refinishing I am shipping when I get my set in from legion

Tim was very specific that he will only do a conversion if there is no manufacturing data that will be disturbed in the process the fact that you have a RWC Tullytown importers mark near the end he would will not do it due to ATF laws

I hear you on not wanting to ship.

I wish I had a big name local to me but surprisingly Houston is devoid of any real talent. I have had nothing but trouble from local places

A few of the big name guys will do the FSB and GB dimples and selector markings, which is important to me if I am going to get it sent off for work.

If he's only worried about manufacturing data, OP should be fine, no? I believe rwc to be the importer, not the manufacturer...

This brings up an interestong topic, at least to me. What informatiom can be legally scrubbed from a reciever? Obviously manufacturer info and serial number are a no go. Are importer info, caliber, model number all legal to scrub?

Curious for info also.. I was guessing as to the post I replied to. That since he said manufacturing data, one would think that import info might be ok, but that's best left for someone in the legal field to answer, and that's not me lol.

I think this warrants a thread in the legal section. I'll do the honor.

Might vary state to state but importer info is exactly that, for the import process. We obviously aren't talking about the manufacturer/model/manufacturer’s serial number which all must remain and not be tampered with.

Here is a quote from gunplumber.

There is a federal law prohibiting so doing on a Title II firearm.

So you want a letter saying there is no law? Back when I was wiping markings for re-engraving, I just did a search on 18 USC and 27 CFR.

Troy at InRange converted one of my RWC Saigas to an AK-105 and another to an AK-103. I sourced all the correct parts and sent them to him. He returned both rifles to me in 5 weeks.

I had a VEPR that had painted on importer markings. The only thing that was stamped or etched in the metal were the serial numbers on the turnnion, that was it. (VEPR was a 2011 import)

I imagine that if the import markings were meant to be permanent that the BATFaggots would have required the markings to be engraved instead of painted on.

In any event, I had an acquaintance of mine (that does firearms engraving) engrave most of the original painted logos on the receiver for me. I also asked him to engrave the importer name on the bottom of the receiver, just forward of the mag well. I wanted all that done before I refinished the firearm, just in case.

Hmmm my older imported back M1 carbine HAD a blue sky stamp on the barrel .
The barrel was replaced by the guy I sold it to.
Wish I had it back now

Proves nothing . I'll sit back and read what the pros say in the legal thread.
I'm thinking import marks mean nothing but I'll be happy to admit I'm wrong if proven so.

I'd have a fixed stock on the rifle if it were mine .

The 105 an SBR or pinned and welded? Looks great, either way

You did GREAT!

You have a nearly new factory built chassis direct from the Izhmash factory!

The world is your oyster for whatever build you have in mind. It will never fail you. It will always be accurate. You, and your children's children, will be able to reliably trust it as a tool to protect your lives.

Well done!

Nice score op, I've got my eye on a .223 at about that same price to do a 101 or 102 clone.
