Default PTS US Palm grips

I realize this is a silly question, but finding a real US Palm ak grip is basically impossible- and insane price. Will an airsoft replica work? Please be gentle cuz my feelings get hurt easily!lol

Truth be told, I had one and didn't like it. I went back to the standard AK grip.

It's designed to be able to fit the motor of an AEG, and for the last few years SOME airsoft parts, very few but some, offer tapco or slightly above quality. If it fits its still going to be a good grip.

It will probably require some modification to fit, as mentioned above the motor of an airsoft AK is housed in the pistol grip. Usually the PTS stuff isn't as robust, there's a lot of info around about Magpul PTS.

I have a PTS pistol grip for an AR....it takes very close examination to be able to notice the quality difference in the plastic. I wouldnt worry about it. Rails, things that are ment to hold zero etc you shouldnt cheap out on but I wouldnt worry about the pistol grip

Don't get the AEG version, the one you want is the GBB, they are identical to the original US Palm grip and they even have the rubber grip plug. The only way to distinguish the PTS GBB grip from a real US Palm is the PTS logo on the top of the grip.

Tan PTS and Real US Palm

I have one of these grips what do they go for now a days? $60? I personally wouldn't use an airsoft grip but hey if its just a range toy why not...

^ I mounted one up and slammed it straight down against a workbench as hard as I could a few times. No effect. Its just plastic, theres no need to be obsessive about it.

The air soft PTS grip is not identical to the US Palm grip for guns.

There is a noticeable difference in sidewall thickness where it mounts on real guns which has been cut to fit GBB air soft guns.

Laterally it will wobble.

Anyone thought about nodding a bg18 grip from tango down to fit their ak since its basically the same grip but for ar's?

I bet the airsoft stuff gets more “real world” use than 95% of the AKs on here, mine included. I would also bet those saying these grips suck paid too much for their palm grips

I got an FDE PTS grip. I can't tell a difference in quality between it and the real deal. No issues with mounting or movement either.

I'm calling BS on the bold part. I have both mounted on different guns and there isn't a bit of difference in how sturdy they are when mounted.

Is this really a discussion on which replica looks the best?

Why? Are you satisfied with a look alike? You guys putting knockoff shit on your rifles makes me laugh about as much as the fags playing airsoft. Buy the real deal you will appreciate it more and get some damn paintballs.

It's one thing if you're supporting a company that still exists, but when something is extinct and there's a knock off that works who cares? More of these airsoft grips have been bashed into the ground and knocked around the trunk of a car and abused harder than most of the real deal anyway I'd bet. I haven't heard of any breaking.

They're not like the knockoff magpul sights that WILL fall apart.

I played airsoft a bit years ago as an indoor winter activity, and these two perfectly sum up my thoughts. The airsoft stuff is more likely to be used than 99% of guns on the internet.

Well said. I have some friends that are pretty deadly and stealthy. We have a serious group of paintballers here made up of LEOs. It's usually street cops vs SWAT guys.

But what do they know

Unless you're dead set on a US Palm grip (or knock off) I'd take a look at FAB Defense...

https://www.fab-defense.com/en/categ...tol-grip-.html

Similar dimensions and feel but you won't have to worry about the quality. I have one on my SGL-21 and like it.

I have big hands, the US Palm is a great feeling grip but a little too narrow for me in the tip section. I run the Hogue grip on all my ak's. How does this Fab Defense grip compare to the Hogue? Is it just as big? It looks great.

After reading this thread I had to check out one of the PTS Palms. I've purchased a couple PTS-licensed things in the past and they were always of a noticeably lower quality plastic than the actual items they are a copy of, but have all been still quite functional for range blasting.

The PTS Palm grip linked above is a dead-ringer for the real thing, as shown in the photos above, both in terms of shape and basic quality.

I do notice a difference in the feel of the material it is made of, though. The two grips feel about equal weight, but the PTS material is slightly more slick/slippery than the US Palm grip.

Generally happy with the purchase based on initial eval and installation, and given that US Palm is gone and no new grips are coming from them...ever. Given the choice, I'd rather buy the authentic US Palm, but in the absence of that choice, we shall see.

It's been a while since I've gripped a Hogue but I want to say I remember the dimensions being fairly similar. The Fab grip is the only one I've ever had on my AK's and it's held strng for the last 7 years. I like it.

If everyone and their brother is selling plasma for these Us Palm grips, why did they go out of business?

US Palm lived and died with their magazines. They made a good grip that a lot of people liked, but there were and are still a lot of quality grips on the market. Once Magpul came out with a cheaper mag that was still quality (and looked much better IMO) the writing was on the wall.
