Default Yugo RPK Drums- Comparison Pics Just Added

How common are these and are they worth anymore or any more special than a Russian or Romanian? Guy once told me the Yugo drums are different in that don't have to load them one round at a time but can load 5 at a time in between lever pushes. No idea the validity of that. Anyone know for sure? Never bothered to mess with that style of drum so I honestly do not know, my drum knowledge is limited to the Chinese style loaded en'masse from the back as that's all I've ever used. Thanks

Never seen one but sure would like to own a couple. First I've heard of the 5 at a time though.

I recall finding an old thread somewhere (here or the AK Forum) about Mitchell Arms importing some drums.

http://www.theakforum.net/forums/20-...-rpk-drum.html

Unfortunately, many pictures have been Photobucketed.

Thanks esh, man I did a forum search, missed that. I do know some things about the whole AK debacle as experienced in CA in 88-89, was stationed in San Diego at the time during the declared war on the AK, I remember the worry about grandfathering etc prior to the law going in to effect and so on. I know that Mitchell imported the Yugo RPK-47's mainly in 88 and weren't too awful plentiful and according to a guy I met who had ordered one at that time, were very expensive for the time. I know even "RPK-47" was deemed illegal therefore the model # was changed, probably the first time was done to loophole an AK ban which I reckon was the first AK ban that started the landslide. What was there at that time, Norinco's, Poly's, and Yugo's. Anyone know of any other manufacture of AK in 1988-89 that was being imported to the US?

Default Drum comparison pics: Yugo, Russian, Romanian

In my possession btw so if anyone has any specific questions just ask. I sure don't see what the guy was saying about can load 5 at a time in the Yugo, seems to work same same. Primary difference I see is the lever is a bit larger on the Yugo and seems stronger than the other two. Also the Rom. has no markings nor an sn at the side like the Yugo and Russian.

They are a lot more rare than Russian and I have seen them bring upwards of $400. Not many imported...

Nice, those aren’t too common—would definitely guess they are more valuable than most of the other drums out there

Gonna put the Yugo and Molot up for grabs but need to research first. Don't wanna sell myself short as they say but don't want to rip anyone's head off either. They need to go to a true collector who'll appreciate them. Won't do gunjoker, rather be beat with a stick.

Do i qualify as a true collector? haha

I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I don't have a Yugo drum...honestly didn't know for sure that Zastava made any.
I knew that Yugoslavia issued drums, but wasn't sure if they were actually made by Zastava or just imported from Russia or Romania or where ever.

I would definitely be interested. I have both a Romie and Molot, but not anything like a Yugo.
I don't do PMs but my e-mail is ozarkbeararms@gmail.com

cheers,

Got PB fixed. May look in to what you said though, PB is proving unreliable as of late.

I used PB up until it fucked the magazine art thread where i had a bunch of pics . Since then i have used the V4 with ease no lagging no popups just straight forward.

If you do post pics in the thread Lord AK-47 linked , pics focusing on the rib pattern from the top angles are important also the difference in the nubs above the rear locking lugs. Thanks again for the pics
