Got around to fitting this micro receiver together today!

This one will be interesting..going to try to keep the lightning cut..and im using an old style rear stubb so i can use an original galil knuckle with my iwi folding brace.

Started the barrel process as well..
Taking an old chrome lined sar barrel (1:7) and chopping it down to micro length. Had to remove some from the barrel shoulder to get it to headspace..buts good to go now

Looks awesome. Part of me says the idea of using a non Micro stock is sacrilege, but the other part says its cheaper, easier, and better LOP, and something different

Either way can't wait to see it done!

Would definitely take some work to make it brace adaptable on the micro assembly without butchering the stock.

Like you said if one part is around its cause to start a new project!

I kinda got a plan for that too swolff...down the road a bit
Just need to make an adapter that goes from the iwi knuckle that fits into the micro rear stubb..got it halfway figured..shouldnt be much of a challenge really..make the block then hav the knuckle fit into the adapter and pin it with two roll pins.

Heres a pic of the old style knuckle and brace.. and ill post one of the new knuckle to micro stub in a min.

I took the easy way on this one for sure..because im chompin at the bit to get this micro together!! But not to worry..i have more micro demills...

So what your saying is put this adapter on your reweld.....then put the "Imagined" adapterd on it....then attach the standard knuckle...

I just finished my first Galil rebuild. When the stock is folded it has a little play. When extended it is rock solid. Is this normal?

Yes. Depending how much wear will determine how much wobble. One of my best surplus stock assemblies maybe moves 1/16th up and down at the butt plate, one thats slightly more worn is closer to a 1/2 inch (probably about 7/16ths) up and down

Yes its normal to have some play when folded zamble..

As long as its rock solid when closed..nothing to worry bout.

Now lets see them reweld pics!

You can resolve that play by adding or even taking away some of the worn or rounded area of the hinge lug but I would if its solid when opened. Sometimes by repairing this it will get a little too tight.

I like mine where they lock close but only take a few pounds of pressure to open. Always make sure you pinch the knuckle to open and not yanking the stock. This is why the lug is wore down. It will continue to wear down if its yanked to open.

With the sand, dirt and dust of Israel, the opening of the stock is slowly sanded down.

So if I understand you correctly. When the stock is in the folded position, about .5”-1” of movement of the stock is normal? Seems like a lot. When I actuate the stock to fold it to the side, the spring is tight as hell pressing down.

Well, normal is subjective thing.

If its wobbling and loose closed, thats not normal,,,

If its overly tight open thats a bitch too.

Stocks closed utilize 2 lugs, when folded they use one lug.

The lugs lock by wedging themselves in a V type pattern. The more worn the wedge the tighter it will get or looser. Kind of depends on the operater if he or she yanked it or abused it.

When a receiver side knuckle/lu gets mated to a new or used stock side knuckle it can be super tight or really loose.

Look at the lugs closed...Is there metal missing or rounded?

Got started on my r5/lm5 clone reweld today...
Receiver pieces fitted.
Gas tube sleeve welded parked n painted to resemble the r5 gas tube.

Going to fill the scope mount in on this one and do the dual lightning cuts.

Making a copy of the south african rear hanguard retainer.
