Default Midwest Industries Gen 2 scope mount opinions

Anyone have any experience with the new Midwest Industries Gen II side mounts? In particular the one in the link?

I have one on my MAK90 with a primary arms red dot on it. It is centered and works good. It is very low and almost co-witnesses lower 1/3ish. If you mash your face on the stock you can get it to co-witnesses.
It is not good at returning to zero and it would occasionally shift on the mount. I modified the mount by drilling and taping a screw threw it and cutting a notch in the base for the screw to lock into. Now it locks in at the same point on the mount, returns to zero and dose not shift at all.

Thanks for the small review NV. Maybe I should fork out the cash for a RS regulate I don't like the idea of zero shifting. I thought Mid West fixed the problems with the locking mechanisms on their mounts. I returned a earlier Gen 1 mount a while back due to that same issue.

I tried the gen1 MI mount. I was totally unimpressed and immediately regretted the purchase. I only use RS Regulate now. Scot really went the extra mile to get them right.

It's a good mount but needs to be customized to make it work right. If I knew what I know now I would have gotten the RS mount, but got it to work.

My Midwest Gen 1 held zero perfectly for 3 years. I have replaced it with an RS to get my red dot lower.

My Gen 1 holds zero for 4 years. BTW the locking mechanism has tons of space to adjust the tension. I cannot understand how it can shift zero if its tighten enough :/

Good to know. I was going to try one for my new Arsenal. I just donít care for Midwest high prices. $160 for the handgaurd and $160 for the mount. Damn

I love my GEN I 30mm mount, lower 1/3 cowitness with my PRO no problem. Can't beat the price on a used one. if I had to get a mount for a micro or something, I'd go RS at this point. The cost effectiveness is gone on the MI GEN II's.

I'd just go whichever I found cheaper. I have a feeling the RS and the MI GEN II's are equally good.

MI is not adjustable to center over bore.

I only have 200 rounds through my Micro Draco with the MI mount and so far so good. Mount looks/feels pretty stout.

Looks really nice. I haven't ordered yet but will soon. $149 and free shipping on amazon. Scope mounts are definitely a over priced part for AKs but the average shooter doesn't want to take the time to learn the AK sights so they will spend an arm and a leg to slap a red dot on.

Just got my Gen 2 mount from MI. Put a primary arms micro on it and I am impressed. Light weight but feels solid and the red dot is mounted really low, enough to cowitness for sure. I will post pictures soon.

200 rounds down be pipe yesterday. Removed the mount several times and it held zero. Perfect Co witness as well, I can look through the red dot and use my iron sights perfectly. Once I can figure out how to downsize my pictures I will upload. Very impressed.

It’s a terrific mount, AND the price is right! It’s light, has a sturdy lock up, sits low, and holds zero. Made in the USA by a great company with great customer service too. Got it mounted up on the 5.45 VEPR and couldn’t be happier.

Finally a picture up. Up to 500 rounds through it and haven't lost zero yet. Hard to capture with a cell phone but when shooting the dot sits right on top of the front post.
