I drilled and tapped the back of the receiver rather than using an extra adapter. It just looks cleaner that way, IMO. If I was planning on maybe selling it one day or collector's value or something, maybe I would have gone with an adapter to keep from drilling it. But this one is destined to be an SBR and I'm keeping it forever.

And I used the separate stormwerks pig nose and folding pieces. Then whatever buffer tube and brace combo makes you happiest. The separate adapters lets you make it fold to the right or left. The right side folder lets you leave the optic mounted while the gun's in compact mode. And when my tax stamp comes in, I can reuse the folding adapter with whatever stock I decide to go with.

I use a US machine guns adapter with folder and an SOB brace. It works really well and I am very happy with the fitment. It will only fold to the left side of receiver. Best of luck with your SAM7.

I don't have a SAM7 but I'd recommend the DoubleStar Strongarm on a MI pistol tube, very solid and comfortable brace

I ordered the usmachinegun right side folder today. I'm going to swap the shockwave for a SBA3.

The strongarm brace just seems at home on an AK pistol. I've got one on an AK105 style pistol. But that SBA3 is the way i would go. Just got one for an AR and I'm really impressed.

I agree - it’s a very minimalist brace that doesn’t try to look either AK or AR, the all metal construction is also very nice. I have seen that SBA3 and I’m actually contemplating running one. I wanted one when it was initially announced at that event but everywhere online was sold out and I lost interest. However I plan on running a folding triangle stock on mine when the stamp clears and I’m sort of hesitant to running a poly stock till then, afraid I’ll get too comfortable not using metal

@Mrgunsngear which SAM7 model were you looking at?
I see a bunch of cool looking guns here with the folders built into the trunion and stamped receivers. The only places I've seen that converted the SAM7K milled pistol to accept factory style folding stock/buffertube want more than you paid for the gun to do the conversion. http://www.marxmanarms.com/sam7k-conversion-options/

Interesting how you sold the SAM7K (milled).
And it seems, kept the SLR106UR (stamped).

I personally have a SLR106U + SB47 brace.
It's one sweet gun.
Been vasliating over a SAM7K.

Thoughts?

I sold the SAM7K pistol right after I got the approval to SBR my SAM7SF.

Think ima go with the tailhook mod 2

Im almost finished with a build..ak55 front stub and original barrel(don't worry it was damaged at end), turned it down for m92 hinge block, beryl lower, m70 tube with cheese grader upper, and a bulgy krink combo and jmac booster. Barrel was cut bout 1/4" behind old gas port.
Im rewelding receiver and using yugo rear with a canis m4 adapter. M92 cover with khyber peep sight and a trs25 on manticore rail. Hogue grip and 103 mags.
I mocked it up with a magpul ctr stock and really liked it....so the mod 2 it is. Looks and functions closest to a stock, no strap, adjustable, will take ak sling without needing qd swivel, and i was not interested in folder(although it could).

Should be a sweet lil set up.

Seeing these pics makes me want one more. I was thinking for going with the Stormwerkz ar folding adapter and adding the Gear Head Works Tailhook MOD1 brace. I have one on my Scorpion and AR pistol and love it.

Still some tweaking and finishing to do.

But it's workable.

Well I decided to guinea-pig the new Doublestar Strongarm brace, so I just pulled the trigger on one (JSE Surplus, cheapest price), i'll check it out and post pics once it comes in.

Question regarding the SBA3 for guys who have them: What material is the bottom part of the brace (where your arm actually goes through) made of? Is it rubber or some kind of polymer?

Was thinking of one for the wife's pistol, but she's allergic to latex, silicone rubber is okay though.

Yep, local gun shop had one yesterday, wife tested it, not completely latex, but enough to activate the allergic reaction. Looks like she gets the strongarm brace I just bought for myself.

How'd u like the strongarm? I've gotta say it's probably my favorite brace right now. Very minimalist
