Cool 357 Magnum

The actual street performance was most impressive.

Particularly with High Tech ammo, 3" 357 Magnum works just fine
Winchester PDX1 did surprisingly well from even a 2" snubbie

Its fine, but .327 gets around 20% more velocity out of a 2" barrel than .357 does (~1200 fps vs ~950 fps)

Actually look at the chronograph results.
https://www.luckygunner.com/labs/rev...llistics-test/
357 Mag 125 gr is basically 4" ~1,450 fps, 3" ~1,300 fps and 2" ~1,200 fps.
That's just the way it is...

Some boutique overpressure ammo does much better
Buffalo Bore 357 Magnum Barnes XPB 125 gr ran 1,425 from a 2" gun

327 is basically unproven with near zero street history in actual shootings.
No thank you...

And what chrono result are you seeing 1200 fps from .357 out of a 2" on?

Read it and weep - LOL!

Full Power 125 gr 357 Mag is ~1,200 fps from a 2" barrel all day every day from multiple sources.

I’ve not purchased a .327 federal but I’ve seen what one does to a coyote at 65 yards... you do not want to be hit with one. The terminal effect was not far behind a .357 magnum. It is a fast moving little pill. Although I don’t think it will ever become mainstream.

As to velocity from a 2” .357, I see about 1100-1225fps with a 125gr pill from my 1.875”-2” guns. Modern revolvers do a little better than older ones. Something about the rifling and barrel designs helps.

Many folks say it’s a waste to shoot magnums from such a small barrel, but shoot some .38’s and .38+P’s. There is still a big difference. The main reason I prefer revolvers is the simplicity, flexibility, and reliability.

Any pistol cartridge loses speed when you start chopping the barrel. It’s a compromise.

A 125gr .357 at 1200fps is the same as a hot 9mm+p from a 4.5-5” barrel but mind you from a gun that can weigh as little as 11oz unloaded and fit in your pants pocket.

I agree on all counts
For carry, for me, 357 Mag in 3" is the compromise/balance I prefer.
But that's just me...

How dare you!

If .38/.357 were compared to a woman, it would be a real classy broad. A girl you would be proud to take home and show off to all your family!

Such a shame I canít think of any famous woman to compare to such a fine and classic cartridge!

I didn't say it was bad; .327 is more efficient in short barrels.

I don't limit my options to only those with the "street cred" of having been adopted by X Y or Z.

And yes, I do have a .357 and will be adding another before the year is out.

.38 would have that classic early 20th century thing going on. Like Donna Reed

No it's not - 357 Mag > 327 from any barrel length.
Dream on...

Personally I run Underwood GDHP 125 gr 357 Sig in my short barreled Hk P2000Sk.
125 gr @ +1,480 from a 3.46" barrel
Also welcome to the Ignore List

Not in terms of velocity.

You seem to have nothing to back yourself up though (other than a claim that BBTI is "bullshit" without an explanation why) so I'll leave you to your preference
