Default Immediate Threat Response bags Pics!!!!!!

Couldn't find the old thread and don't feel like resurrecting it so might as well start a new one. This is just to post your setup for others to get some ideas or maybe help them come up with some new ones. Everyone's envisioned scenario and needs are different so this is a good tool to kind of compare notes and realities especially after something like the recent church shooting in texas.

These don't necessarily have to be survival setups or get home bags.

First setup I run RPK mags in a bulldog tactical discreet carry case, it can hold a side folding AK with a short muzzle device and 4 RPK mags. I keep the pouch on the other side as the case has a divider.

The second I tend to prefer more and carry more often, no real advantage over the other, just personal preference.

I also tend to carry a RS 30mm setup to toss on real quick, it is an advantage.

The case is no longer than 27 inches and 12 inches tall.

I think if I wanted to carry a fixed stock setup I would get a soft guitar case and work from there. I really love the com-bloc shoulder strap mag pouches for go setups, cutting the flaps off is the fastest method for retrieval and insertion of mags, sometimes I do both to a pouch and sometimes i only cut the side flaps and leave the main flap.

I feel like something like this would be a great discreet option for fixed stock setups, toss a little 4 cell in there and you have all you ever need.

I went the tennis bag route. I put this together when I lived in Cleveland for the RNC. Had to go with an extra large bag to fit an M92 with a brace and muzzle booster. The mags in the gun are two tankers filled with Yugo M67 and electrical taped together. It fits perfectly. With a single 30-rounder it was just too tight and took too much futzing around to deploy the gun. Also fits a 4-cell yugo pouch and K-bar.

Have you ever thought about going to a folding brace?

I have the following backpack

I took the mag pouches off and put them inside to make it look like just a camo backpack. I have a small first aid kit on the side and the following inside:

-Kel Tec Sub 2000 9mm
-Five 33 round magazines, three in a mag pouch that can go on my belt
-Five 17 round mags, three in a pouch that can go on my belt
-OWB holster for my glock 17 in case I want to move it from IWB to OWB
-Two bottles of water
-Extra Socks
-Good shooting gloves
-Shatter resistant sunglasses
-Flashlight
-Extra box of 9mm (mostly for range days)

This goes in my trunk wherever I can legally bring it. While not as sufficient as an AK, the Kel Tec has been reliable for ~700 rounds and uses the same mags/ammo as my daily carry. 147+p Federal HST is quite nasty out of a 16" barrel also. I have been on numerous hikes with this and it carries quite comfortably.

I find a tennis racket bag or baseball bag to be a tad more discreet than a "discreet" gun case.

I also have a separate bag with other stuff, like a full size pistol, more ammo, and misc BOB type items.

My gun bag though contains things to make holes and plug holes. I would like to add a tourniquet to the strap of the mag bandolier though.

Baseball bag, they're gonna think you're Negan. Then the AK comes out and you tell'em call me Daryl

I am of the opposite mind, I think that a plain bag has an advantage in being useful in any environment, there are environments where sports bags would look very out of place.

That is why I was thinking guitar cases or maybe keyboard cases, I have seen folks also use hard cases for violin's and stuff like that. Also these cases tend to allow me to store behind the seat in a reg cab pickup truck, keeping things compact and organized.

You could swap that factory brake out for a fighter 24 and save a little weight and length.

Dad bag. $20 walmart backpack. Don't like I have to break the pistol down. Thought about the law tactical folder. Would probably have use a shorter flash can. May go the racquet bag route. But I do keep other junk in here for my kids.
1 mag lives in the lower. 2 mags in each side pockets, 1 sippy each. Pistol goes in the most rear section. Front section holds the kids stuff.

Fair enough.

My thoughts were nobody would think a baseball bat, glove, and baseballs were worth breaking a window over. An instrument case might be looked at as a pawnable item. Idk if there is any validity to the concern, but that and the low cost ($8-9, iirc) at alocal wally world nudged me in the bat bag direction.

Since this is a pistol, I can keep a loaded mag in it and ready to roll in the front seat here in IL. Rifles are a different story unfortunately. NFA items could be a different story, maybe chknfkr can shine some light on that.

I kinda like that. I may have to move my get home and pistol items to a dad bag I have. The tan back pack I have now looks off with the molle and tactical look.

My 5.11 pack doesn't look too tactical, but the water bladder compartment fits a Kel Tec Sub 2K perfectly. Plus a Galati gear 8 cell mag pouch and IFAK with room to spare for the kids' snacks.

Looks like the one MidwayUSA sells, it`s part of their brand-name stuff.

My "Response Kit" includes a bag with ammo and
medical trauma supplies for each of my semi-auto rifles.

If I want to go full SHTF/Riot/ActiveShooter/Minute-Man, I would put on my slick-plate carrier and be done with it.

Ramey, hard to tell from the pictures, but is that one of the midwayusa 4 cell mag bandoliers?

Either way, I might steal that idea and add a pistol mag pouch or two and med gear to the rear on that molle.

Yep. Midwayusa. Just look up "mag pouch" or "mag bandolier".

They have a few different colors and run them on sale quite often from $8.99 to $13.99.

RMiller - you answered your question. Yes, it is. Fits AR and AK (though AK mags are a bit snug; no lighting fast reloads going to happen). Awesome bag, cheap, low profile. The Molli on the back is great. I used Blue Force Mah pouches (m4 and 308) for med gear and added a dump pouch to each for whatever purpose you need a dump pouch for.

Total rig is very low profile - especially in black which doesn’t scream “tactical”. Can easily be put under a coat/jacket with minimal bulk.

Only upgrade is replace the cheap plastic should strap attachment points with something. I used paracord. (Reid Hendrick’s mod)

If you go with the LAW folder you will have to lose that sling plate to get it to fold all the way over.

I have a LAW on a pistol with my favorite sling plate (ASAP) from Magpul and it doesn't fold beyond about 120 degrees.

Can anyone recommend some kind of range bag or similar that`d fit an AKS74? Measures about 28-29 inches folded, I`ve got no problem finding range bags out the ass but I`ve not yet found one big enough. For my purposes low-profile isn`t an issue, I`m wanting to carry some basic TACMED shit, a couple reloads and bottle of water. Does anyone have any suggestions?

A friend suggested I find one of the MOLLE gun cases and affixing pouches for the extra stuff to the exterior but that`s a bit big and cumbersome, compared to stacking shit horizontally in a toolbag kinda thing.

Some pretty good ideas, one thing to add to bag is hearing protection. It's a little overlooked thing but those of us that went out shooting and forgot our earplugs and shot anyway didn't make it very many rounds if past the first one especially with a sbr. Most firefights are not won with 1 round.

I didn't show it in my pic but I've got foam plugs in the pocket of my bag, as well as the mag pouch. They aren't as quick to deploy as muffs, but they pack a lot better.

Ramey, so simple and cheap. I am totally exploring your combo. I already have five on the way for under six bucks each! I have a handful of triple mag shingles, so I'm gonna work with those.

Question for all of you guys…

Somewhere I remember seeing a site that sells plastic boxes than fit in the space of an AR magazine. I would like to find these again as they might fit my desires for this response bag.I believe they were sold in either single or double mag sizes. Do any of you know what these are or know what I am talking about?

chknfkr…flat out perfect bag, dude. That rifle is the balls! You could carry that bag int the middle of an anti-gun rally and nobody would know, lol.

A friend suggested I find one of the MOLLE gun cases and affixing pouches for the extra stuff to the exterior but that`s a bit big and cumbersome, compared to stacking shit horizontally in a toolbag kinda thing.
M60 barrel bag? I think you can fit 2mags in the bigger pocket and then med studf in the other pocket and then the main pocket for the gun of course. I don't remember how big my 74u is, but it fits in an m60 bag without a folder on the arm brace. It actually comes close to fitting with my 8" something suppressor on it.
