Default Type 79

This was a fortunate find. Has a Byelorussian 6x sight. Haven't yet found a CHICOM scope at the right price.

Nice find indeed. Get any extras with it or just the rifle?

What happened to the one that came with the rifle?

Scope was lost in whatever conflict the rifle was recovered in. It's a true Type 79, rather than a commercial import.

Right now there happens to be a "bringback" chicom scope on gunbroker that would complete this fine rifle. It is a true military issued scope with chinese writing on the windage and elevation knobs, not one made for export with the English writing.

Congratulations! That is a rare one. What's the date on it? I think that's the first actual Type 79 I've seen. The rifle looks to be in excellent condition too. Is it BFPU or one that just missed the importer's stamp? Any back story on how it was acquired you can share? It maybe the pics but the rifle finish looks to be a different from the standard glossy type. I agree that scope needs to be replaced with the correct Chinese Type JJJ one. There is also a guy on GB who has the correct Chinese military sling for one of these but its going to take a lot of cleaning to match the condition of this rifle.

Beautiful rifle. You are quite fortunate.

Looks like it might have been refinished at some point.
as scopes go, it depends on the era of the rifle as to the scopes markings and most if not all would have the standard Chinese export markings in English.
Pretty rifle none the less.

I have the one on GB that is in well used condition. I also have a as new example in original matching can with all.....but you would have to twist both my arms with a good offer to sell.

Other than some minor details of the scope that originally came with the Type-79, are there any differences between the Type-79 and the Type-85?
