Default RAAC Saigas

Couldn’t find a whole lot of info or feedback on these Saigas. Anyone have one or experience with them? How does their conversion rate? Thanks!

A Saiga is a Saiga is a Saiga.

An importer's mark doesn't change the rifle.

Not all conversions are created equal.

That is true.

To my knowledge, RAAC did zero conversions ( they just imported the rifles )

. . . which opens your question up to the thousands of folks who have converted a RAAC Saiga ( for better or worse, according to their skills )

I have one that happened to be one of Kreb’s first Saiga conversions to a AK103K-S. It is a 2006 dated rifle with the extra Y stamp that I have never seen on a Saiga. It was said that some RAAC Saiga 7.62 rifles were Venezuela overruns. Not sure if that’s credible.

As to their build quality I’m not sure as Krebs did the makeover. As others said though a Saiga is a Saiga.

I would just be careful because some of the early Saiga's imported by RAAC came in without dimples on the receiver. that would be a deal breaker IMHO..

No, "the majority" of Saigas imported by RAAC were slabsided models.

It was only in the last few months of their import contract that dimpled models started appearing.

The RAAC Saiga I have is a 2008 model and it does have the correct dimples on the receiver. I do like the fact that the importers name is located on the rear corner of the receiver where the cutouts for the folding hardware goes (and can be removed).

According to this, Venezuala didn't start the AK103's production til 2013.

Yes correct but Russia was producing 103’s for them long before. Also to your point, it wouldn’t be a RUSSIAN Saiga if it came from Venezuela.
