greasepencil:
Literally the only reason I bought my SAR-1 as the first Romanian is because over a 1-2 week period, about a year ago, nobody listed Any WASR 10s (or 10/63s) on Armslist TN for the area near Memphis.
Retailers could not order them...but how about now?

Well done.

Great find, congrats. I love it when you find those kick ass deals. Now you'll have money for ammo to shoot the heck out of it.

I've been happy with WASR's, going back years, but when you rack the action, there's typically some mild abrasiveness there, a lack of slickness and precision, that higher-end rifles generally don't exibit.

"Eagle One, 'Nevr Dull' Wadding Polish" can help.

I rubbed these cloths, treated with a light chemical, on the rails' surfaces for approx. 60 minutes, producing a slicker feel on the rails, and this was a while After evaporation.

Cornpone and associates: have retailers been able (again) to order WASR 10s from suppliers with any consistency over the last few months?
I've read nothing about Romania restarting exports of them to the US.

Good find OP. I don't think it's too surprising to find a straight, well built Wasr these days. The newer production ones really seem to be on point. Mine is same, straight, great rivets runs flawless. Seems like the 2015 - present models have really been coming out the Cugir factory strong. Also century seems to be doing a better job on the mag wells. Mine anyway and many other's on this forum.

My brother has a 2013 and I've got a 2014.
His came with a harder wood than mine and in the "rough" but still a better quality than the blonde furniture that came with after 2013.

Both of ours are excellent quality with smooth actions.
Neither have had any malfunctions with basic cleanings.
I've run different brands of ammo and types.
Flawless function.

What are the chances?

Went to check out what my usual FFL had in. Not a whole lot, just typical AR's, etc.

Over in the corner he had a slide fire demo WASR 10. He's a small outfit and it's maybe had 400-500rds through it at most.

I asked if he'd be willing to sell, and he named the price and my wallet broke the speed barrier when I whipped it out.

$400 OTD. Hell yea.

Kidding.......funny how that's always the case with anything sold cheaper then people think it should be.

Nice grab. Secondary market FTW again.

That'll never happen where I'm at. The pawn shops want more for used shit than I can get new stuff for.
Good for you guys though.

Nice buy!

I am watching one at a local pawn shop that is new and has been there quite a long time. Last time I looked the price was around $650. If the price drops enough I might buy it. The shop owner keeps asking me if I am interested and I keep saying no-for now.

Got it out Friday, I bought some Russian laminate that participated in the Afghan wars of the 1980's and it turned out fairly well, had to replace the century popsicle wood it came with...ignore the ratty carpet, I have two wild kids living in the apartment while we wait on the house, so apple juice is spilled quite often without dad being made aware...

greasepencil: Well done, and my favorite wood color and pattern. To go (a bit) against 'group think', it's the gun quality for some of us, not the very nice discount which is the overall priority.

single hook: you must be near Atlanta to have so many basic WASRs on Armslist?
We normally have very few in west TN left in the original configuration.

That's generally my experience as well. Read countless stories of great pawn shop find online, but when I go in one it's POS guns that are generally $50-100 more than I can find them elsewhere for, usually new.

that's why I stopped going to gun stores in Tucson alltogether. Selling Shield .45's for $480 when they were going for $330 online, used Glock 19s for 50 MORE than new online, AK's for $600-$700 that were just beat to sh!t RAS47s etc... I finally just stopped checking
