Exactly, one hundred yards and a stock, out of the box trigger, that's good shooting! If you want to improve on that, upgrade the trigger.

Reliability: I put about 170 rounds through it. Cycled perfectly. No FTE/FTF. Did a 60 round mag dump (3 mags) with Tula to see if I could make it fail. It ran like a sewing machine. Bolt held back every time.

Accuracy: 100 yards: My testing was not really fair to the rifle. First, I had wind gusts the whole afternoon. So wind was a factor. It was 98 degrees and the barrel was pretty warm through accuracy testing. I also had a PA 1-6x24 ACSS scope. I believe if I had more magnification, it would have been more accurate (Side note: I don't think I like that horseshoe on the ACSS. It gets mixed up with the rings on the targets). I also had the sucky mil-spec trigger. Using 168 SMK I averaged anywhere from 1.7" to 2.00" 5 shot groups. My 150gr SP reloads did about the same as the 168's. I got 2.2" out of Tula!

Bottomline: I wasn't super impressed, but not entirely disappointed either. It's a good rifle and a solid shooter. And for $650.00, you really can't beat it. You could upgrade the barrel and still have a budget friendly rifle. If I decide to keep this rifle (and I probably will), I will upgrade the trigger and scope and see how it does before I switch the barrel.

I do not make a practice of running steel case in my AR's, but I will not own one that can't run it. There may come a time that you need your rifles to be able to eat anything. And the last thing you need is a primadonna that can't cycle Wolf!

I don't know what else to say. If you have any questions just ask.
Good stuff. Even besides the scope and wind limitations that isn't "bad" for two random ammo types. Any plans to experiment further with other types? Perhaps Hornady, Federal, Black Hills, or any other match type ammo?

I might. More than likely, I'll just work up some loads that the rifle likes.

They're basically giving these things away now. Buy a complete upper and lower and you've got the PA-10 for $460.

Goddamnit! I've bought enough guns in the past 2 months but these prices are getting hard to resist!!

Do the lowers take standard AR15 buffer tubes?? I'd have to put an A2 stock on it without a doubt

I had bought 2 awhile back 18" stainless barrels. One for my dad, one for myself. Mine only has 50 or 60 rounds through it as I prefer my Grendel and 300blk, his has maybe 400.

His has had a few malfunctions, 1 required me to mortar the charging handle to free up the bolt. CH did not survive, replaced with a bcm and the quality between the two are very noticeable. The PSA ch I was able to fold in half 1 handed.

The rest of the malfunctions I will attribute to the rifle running dry (mostly stove pipes) 1 double feed. It is his thermal hog hunting gun so it collects lots of dust riding around ranches on the ranger.

The reliability is not spectacular so far, but isn't too bad for what he uses it for. Definitely cheap enough as a starter, and upgrade as you go if needed. Mine did shoot 168gr remington cor lokt well, about 1.2 - 1.7 average groups at 100

Yeap but the buffer and spring are unique

Jsesurplus and PSA should both stock the A2 308 buffers and springs.

I feel like a sucker. I have $1060 in mine. That's with the 18" chf chrome lined barrel that's no longer available and (10) Pmag 20 LR/SR Gen M3 mags (bundle sale upper with NiB bcg and mags) haven't shot it yet because I wasn't sure if I would keep it or not. Had it since first of the year.....

With the prices this low it's totally worth it. You can always save money, but who knows how long .308 AR's are going to be $500

Has anyone bought one of the PSA uppers with the pinned and welded flash hiders (the phosphate and nitride models)?

If so, are they spot welds or full welds?

Just bought 2 completed lowers, 160 shipped, +10 dollar transfer for both.

Now I just need some super affordable uppers.

I bought one that said it was pinned and welded, but It's not.
I assume its a misprint in the ad.

Well I couldn't hold off any longer. I ordered a compleat lower with the magpul stock and oversized grip, 18" SS barreled upper and 10 20rnd PMags. $739.shipped.

What sort of scope mounting rings do I need to use on something like this? I have an old Bushnell 3x9 I can mount till I figure out what I want.

Thanks

Tell me how you like the 399 barreled upper. I was hoping that the cheaper uppers would come back into stock. I know everyone loves a fancy foreend, but 399.99 takes the rifle out of it's dirt cheap budget. As far as I can tell the difference between the cheaper completed uppers and the 399.99 upper is just the fancy forend.

What scope and mount did you use on the PA 10?

I will post a report once I get them in.

Thanks

Nikon P-308 4-12x40 scope
Download the APP "Nikon Spot On" which gives you exact shooting parameters for range, wind, etc.

http://www.nikonsportoptics.com/en/n...0-bdc-800.html

Mount, this one IIRC

That is a nice setup for the PSA and what I'm going for as well. Just hope they get some of the non-SS barreled uppers back in stock soon

Did you consider the M-308 before buying the P-308? The M costs a good bit more. Have you had good results with that PSA setup?

I looked at the M-308 but I didn't see the cost benefit over the P-308 personally.
I do not claim to be an expert marksman to even quantify the differences in the field, so.....take it FWIW

Mine is a cherry still waiting for me to get it to the range to shoot.
My schedule is very hard to find the time to hit the ranges that are 1-2 hours away. (Chicago burbs)

I can hit a 50-75 yard range right by me, but its' 308 and to me that's like a waste of good ammo.

If there's one thing PSA has down, it's charging instantly.
