Default MAC shoots 10mm Rugers, GP100 revolver and 1911

Never really considered any 10mm handguns myself, except Bren Ten..But interesting to see that this caliber seems to be "coming back". I would still rather have traditional 357 or 44 Mag etc on a wheelgun and stick with 9mm or 45ACP on semiauto...Maybe if the availability and price would improve on 10mm then it might be a different story. And shooting that wheelgun without moonclips doesn't seem that convenient...I mean getting spent cases out one by one.

Wonder if that felt recoil and therefore losing the front sight picture from 1911 was partially because of that heavy ass slide working.

"I'm very used to 1911"... failure to feed after inserting a mag and racking the slide... "Oops, didn't quite get the magazine all the way in"... Priceless...I do enjoy his videos.

I'm always commenting on Springfield Armory's twitter posts about how they need to release a 10mm XD.

Maybe one day

Interesting video.

I have had a hankering for a S&W 610 for some time so the Ruger sort of interests me.

Been looking for another 10mm as what I have is a Star, and I almost hate shooting it anymore what with parts availability, should something go wrong. Nice gun though. Had my eye on perhaps a Witness or a Rock Island 1911 style.

As far as ammo, Graf's has 180gr Armscorp FMJ TC $16 for fifty rounds and Prvi 170 gr for $17 right now.

If you've not considered it, SIG finally brought out the 10mm in P220 flavor a wee bit ago..Assuming you like SIGs, it might be another worth a look. Another option--assuming you like 10mm ballistics, but don't require specifically that cartridge--a S&W in .41 Mag. Same enough diameter bullet, mild loads at .40/10mm level, much "uberer" loads available, easy to handload, etc.

Guess Tim skipped the P220 in that video? I've not yet watched it.

He didn't mention that but he did comment on 41Mag that it is hard to find ammo for it. Online of course etc but that's true that I could buy 10mm from Wally, but they don't carry 41Mag. Don't even remember when I have seen 41Mag ammo last time. Could have been in some gun show. Or maybe at Bass Pro etc.

I have a Dan Wesson Razorback and it's my favorite pistol to shoot. Ammo isn't that bad and it's available. I think I'll get that Ruger as well...

I have a Kimber 1911 in 10mm that shoots the lights out. Expensive mags, though.

Hadn't really looked hard at buying a SIG(other than a 210) since the early nineties when I was considering a 226 or 220.

I still don't own any, but have shot the 220, the 226 and the 229, none really caught my attention in particular. I'll have to take a closer look at that 220 10mm though.

Worked with a guy that carried a model 57, and swore by it. Nice revolver, and the .41 is an interesting round. Definitely has the potential for higher performance than the 10mm too. The .38-40 (WCF) is another in that caliber that has always interested me.

To quote many "so many guns, so little time."

Usually for me it comes down to being whatever is in the right place at the right time.

Very cool to see another option come around, the S&W #610 is a great gun but prices have went through the roof. I do get slightly annoyed though when people compare it as equal to .41 magnum. It is not, when each is loaded to it's full potential. I would put the 10mm more on par with the .357.

Now if you're talking 10mm auto-mag, that's a different story....& that's if you can find one.

I agree with that...My only comparison with the two was if handloading .41 to fairly mild levels (retaining the option for heavier/faster than 10mm, as needed). If somebody is looking at a revolver, anyway, that is.

I had a 10mm S&W revolver.

It came with clips but I didn't use them because they bent easily and could jam up the action.

The clips do allow using 40 S&W in the 10mm S&W revolver.

The GP-100 is big for a 357, but isn't really big enough for 41 or 44 Magnum, so 10mm is interesting for that size revolver.

I get what you're saying Spook. Just seems like I hear so many times of people claiming .41 magnum power from a 10mm. I love the 10mm, but it's not quite on the same level as .41 mag.

I love the 10mm but never saw the appeal of one in a revolver. The original 357 Magnum load was a stout 1525 fps with a 158 gr bullet. Underwood 155gr hp in 10mm is 1500 fps and Underwood often slightly bests its advertised velocities.

I have 2 RIA 1911's in 10mm and they are a lot of fun to shoot. 5" single stack is a little hard on your hands and the double stack 6" is much softer shooting. The only reason I see to buy a 10mm revolver is if you don't own anything else in 357 mag, already have a 10mm and/or reload and don't want to get into another caliber.

The only reason to buy a 10mm is because of the 10mm hype. With that said I'd rather have a 44 Magnum. Quit pussy footing around.
