Default How big a deal is it to ship ammo?

I have a supply of ammo I want to ship approximately 1,700 miles. How big a deal is it I know it needs an ORM-D label and it has to go from a shipping depot. I don't know if its going to cost too much to ship if its $50 a case its not worth it and if i bring in 20 cases of ammo to UPS there going to call homeland security on me.

It just ships according to weight and size, and has to go ground service. You can use the orm-d sticker that looks like a diamond with a black bar at the top and bottom if you don't want your package to scream ammunition at everybody that sees it.

Fedex has a new “one rate” that is comparable to USPS Priority. Used it to ship some ammo cross country and it was quite reasonable, and the box size and weight are set with incremental increases after the upper limit.

Ups and FedEx both told me to get fucked and that they don't ship ammo from a person but only from a business

Weight of package needs to be under 66lbs, maked with the proper ORD-M sticker or copy there of, taken to the shipping hub (not the UPS Store). Its not cheap but they will ship it. I just sent a tin of 7.62x54R from Central TX to FL and it ran $45ish for shipping.

This link will spell it out for ya, look about midway down the page for ammo.

If it was a UPS store then yes they are right. Those are franchises. However if you take it to a processing center or schedule a pick up from a driver there is nothing that says a private party cannot sent ammo. Or you spoke to some anti gun fuck

This.

You have to go to a shipping center/depot, not a UPS store. They don't blink an eye at the shipping centers, just use the diamond black/white orm-d sticker on a couple sides. Is expensive though.

Easy and cheap. I ship ammo among other things with UPS all the time. Tins usually ship for $20-$30 depending on where they're going. You don't need to drop them off anywhere either. Print the label at home and request pickup. The brown truck will pick it up from your home or place of business.

Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, for me it was $50 just to get the truck to show plus maybe $20 to actually ship 500 someodd 5.45

The "one rate" packaging are listed by FedEx as "not suitable" for any ORM-D shipments. Did you tell them it was ammo and label pkg as such?

Do more business with them.

I do live in the middle of nowhere, but I do enough business with them that they're at my house every day. It's a permanent part of their route, so I pay no weird out of the way surcharges.

If the brown truck never goes down your lane, you'll get hit with a surcharge to modify the route.

Yep. They did not care. The one rate boxes are a little flimsy, so that may be the issue.
