Didn't know the "experts" required a specific format for questions that someone was looking for the answers to. You might want to try to just skip the post next time, as it will consume less of your effort, that you might need to save, to look up URLs for properly formatted questions.

You had one post and come in here asking for serial numbers.

Your second thread's content would have been perfect for setting up this question, as it explained what you are looking for in this thread, and why.

Let me put it another way: "Garbage in, garbage out"

Ok @nalioth, I'll bite. You're clearly the expert here.

I have two Zastava rifles. One is a Mitchell import and the other was imported by ZCZ American Arms.

Since the SNs were evidently created by Zastava (as I have two separate rifles, from two separate importers that have the same type of SN stamp), I was wondering if there was a Zastava SN database somewhere, or were serial number databases only maintained by the importers, if at all.

Well, the manufacturer should have records, if the country's recent troubles didn't cause any failures in data retention.

As the importers no longer exist, getting serial number ranges from them may be a chore, if not impossible.

I apologize if I need to "tighten up". As an "FNG" I made the naive assumption that I could seek guidance from a group of people that might know more than me about it, but apparently there is some initiation I need to go through first
My bad.

No, you just need to ask a proper question.

Of course no one knows what the proper question is except for Nalioth....

Based on your reasoning for locking numerous posts due to "not doing a search first for a question that has been asked before"... Can you even come up with a single question about an AK that has not been asked yet? Under your reasoning this whole forum should just be shout down.. all the questions that could have possibly been asked about an AK were asked a decade ago.

This isn't about "repeat questions".

This is about not marching in here out of the blue, a stone noob, asking for serial numbers . . .

Until he posted his second thread, which explained this one, it looked like he was the dumbest agent ever hired.

I understood what he was looking for, perhaps someone else should be given the dumbest agent ever hired title?

But no.. you knew what he was looking for.. you just chose to be an ass as usual.

Predominantly the year of build. There are also some irregularities.

The one imported by Mitchell is e-penciled M-90. I've seen conflicting information regarding the e-penciled rifles, but I would like to know the original model designation. It is chambered in 7.62x51

The one imported by ZCZ American Arms is designated "Model AK". I have been unable to find rifles of that model designation. It is chambered in 7.62x39

This was his first thread, hoss.

I had actually created those threads right after each other, as I viewed them as two different topics. I apologize for the confusion.

Excuse me for being ignorant, but why does one need a serial number lookup?
