Default AK74M/100 Saiga Trunnion 3rd pin location

I'm in the process of cloning a 103 and the bad part is I don't have a Saiga so everything will be done from scratch. I have most of the parts except the trunnion with the 3rd pin/rivet. If I can't source this part, my plan B is to work on a 74 trunnion and drill the hole for the 3rd rivet. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find information or blueprint for that particular hole location. I would appreciate if someone could do measurements on their Saiga for the location of that particular rivet. Thank you.

Early AK-103's do not have the bolt turning stud.

It is a hardened part.

I have used Saiga trunnions in other receivers and when I removed the Saiga trunnion from a damaged receiver I cut the sheet metal around the head of the stud and drilled a hole for it in the new receiver.

It was never removed from the trunnion.

I have seen them removed but never replaced.

I believe my barrel assembly came from the over run of the Venezuelan contract. It has a export/commercial barrel (chamber ramp) with factory installed military style FSB and GB. Is that considered as early? If so, will an Ak74 trunnion will do?

An AK74 trunnion will need the magazine shelf modified / opened up to take 7.62x39 magazines and the bullet guide will need some mods.

The early AK-103 is fairly rare as new AKM's were still being sold by Russia.

There are more pics of early 5.56 AK-101's.

Ok, assuming I acquire a virgin 100 trunnion in 7.62, will a Saiga 7.62 bolt work without the aid of the 3rd pin?

It would have to have an AK74 type bullet guide if it did not have the bolt turning stud.

The 7.62x39 and 223 Saiga trunnions are the same and will take 7.62x39 magazines.

Sorry to hijack but question. I have a Saiga 7.62 I'm ready to convert to a 103 clone. I'm actually farming this job out to a builder soon and have all the parts except the bullet guide.

It may be a dumb question but after reading above should I source a 74 bullet guide?

Those 7.62 bullet guides doesn't seem to have the provision to aid on bolt lock up.

No, if you have a Saiga you don't want the AK74 bullet guide.

That is only for trunnions without the Saiga bolt turning stud.

If you do not use a Saiga bolt turning stud, the AK-103 bolt will need a modified AK74 bullet guide.

For 7.62x39, take down the rear edge so it looks like the 7.62x39 bullet guide.

It will require a 7.62x39 Saiga or Vepr bolt with an AK-74 bolt carrier to mimic the AK-103.

It will need an AK-74 trunnion with the magazine shelf modified or an AKM trunnion with the bullet guide rivet hole welded and redrilled in position for the AK-74 bullet guide.

The trunnion is thin in that area though.
