Default Aks74u accuracy testing. Wolf mil, gt, hornday, red army standard 60 and 69

Hello everyone,

I did some accuracy testing on 5 different rounds out of my aks74u (tula, 88 izzy parts and uao85 barrel) I built. The rounds I tested were 60gr wolf military, 59gr golden tiger (new shipment), hornady, red army standard 60gr and 69gr.

Testing was only done at 50yds this time, ill update when I do 100yds. I did 3 and 5 shot groupings for each round. For the 100yd testing ill try to get a chronograph and picture also. I have pictures of the 5 shot groups that ill try to post.
Ill retest at 50 when I do the 100yd test. Im sure I can do better for accuracy. Ill have an actual rest and maybe a 10x scope mounted.

Wolf mil
3 shot- .7in
5 shot- 1.5in

Golden tiger
3 shot- .6in
5 shot- 1.8in

Hornady
3 shot- .4in
5 shot- 1in

Red army standard 60gr
3 shot- .55in
5 shot- 1.6in

Red army standard 69gr
3 shot- 1in
5 shot- 2.3in
.

Great info, thank you!
However it will be much more useful if you do 5 groups of 3 and 5 shots, and then show the average. This way people see what rifle is capable of producing instead of random theoretical outcome.
I really don't like when people shoot 1 group, and then come here to claim some sort of mystical accuracy out of their ak. When in reality ak can and will shoot anything between 1.7 moa to 4.5 moa during the same session with same ammo brand.

This was more of a spur of the moment so this next session ill be better prepared and alot more time. In 2 weeks ill do 3 sets of 5 at 50 and 100yds to have a better average.

Awesome! i was always curious to know what U's can produce, rest and 10x scope will def bring more consistency.
I would also advise to try it with and without muzzle brake/booster, see if you notice any difference. When i was testing my ak, i did it without muzzle brake - consistent 1.7-2 moa. Half a year later decided to try again with different optic and muzzle brake on- couldn't get it below 3.5moa O_o ... Looks like i will have to go back and figure out whether it was optic or the muzzle brake.

Good! Looking forward to this as I have 2+ cases of the original lacquer coated VMax 5.45x39.

Thanks for posting your results. I've had Good luck w the Hornady as well. The Silver Bear is very close in POI to the Hornady and pairs well with it as a practice round.

I have 2 AK74 rifles. One is my home defense go to, loaded with Hornady VMax. The other is my open field rifle, loaded with Golden Tiger. Separate backup rigs for each. No corrosive 7n6 for me, love it or shove it, these are the rounds I run.

Polish steel mags utilized all around.

2 different rounds, 2 different applications.
